Taking a Break Back Home

Getting a break from classes can be so refreshing! I love being at home and am not in any kind of rush to get back to school because I know it will be here before I know it. I did finish out pretty well in Summer school, but then again I should have since there was nothing going on, and I was taking all GECs(http://www.artsandsciences.osu.edu/students/gec.cfm).
I'm glad that getting all my stuff out the dorm for the summer was not too bad. Of course I struggled a bit since I have so many things but I was able to get it all out in one day! Sure I had to get like 4 people to help me, but it all got done.
Being an out-of-state student, having a storage unit is so useful. I could not imagine hauling every single item that I own back and forth to school each year. I use it mainly to store off-season clothing, my fan, bedding, books, electonics, and pictures. It also helps to keep my room less cluttered since I don't need to be tripping over suitcases, boots, and sweaters when I get in my room!

The summer has been going rather fast for me. I went to St. Louis, MO 2 weeks ago for my Family Reunion, then I went to Birmingham, AL last weekend to visit so more family, and now I'll be going to New York this Wednesday! That's what summer is for: to relax and vacate, and I am doing that to the max!

As a member of Student organizations, I have to help prepare for the upcoming school year. I am treasurer for the National Association of Black Journalists and will be President over a Bible Study for my church's college ministry. I already got a bank account set up for NABJ, but I still have to do training for both positions again in order to receive funds from the school.
Ohio State provides a lot for their student organizations. Through the SOURCE (Student Organization Resource Center: http://ohiounion.osu.edu/studentorgs/orgs.asp), groups can get money to put on campus programs, use the center to make copies, flyers, buttons, and even check-out board games or a karaoke machine. So the SOURCE is a big help with planning events and for ideas!
My job now is to talk with the other leaders of my Bible Study to discuss the topics we'll be covering this year and get ideas for activites and community service projects, and for NABJ, I have to email the president about fundraiser and sponsor ideas so let the brainstorming begin!
