Is it really Homecoming
Guess it was Homecoming last week, but I couldn't really tell because I didn't get "Homey" feel. Maybe it's because Ohio State is so big that it's hard for people to focus on certain events. I'm used to High School Homecomings where there's great events going on all week long. I don't know what went on last week beside the game. Oh there was the parade too, but other than that the week seemed pretty lame.
Of course Homecoming is not going to be as close knit as it was in high school where there was only about 2,000 people in the school but since OSU is 25 times bigger, I thought that it would be 25 times better! My friends at other universities sound like they have awesome Homecoming weeks with concerts, speakers, dances, and a chance where students can actually hear something from the Homecoming Court before voting on King and Queen. They even have a Favorite Freshmen, Sophomore & Junior showcase, which helps to get underclassmen involved.
I think we could of at least had entertainers like T-Pain perform this week instead of Welcome Week because there should be something to get students excited for the week and attract alumni back, after all it's Homecoming not Homegoing! I would love it if we could have a Homecoming dance as well because things like that make Homecoming what it is.

There was an African American Homecoming Pageant on Monday, that the Deltas put on. I was nice, and I had a lot of my friends participate in it. The contestants went through 2 Question rounds before the top 3 were announced and had to tell what they would if chosen King or Queen. So it was cool, but it would be nice to have a pageant like that for the whole school.
Two of my friends called me up Saturday morning to offer me a free ticket to the Football Game (nice friends huh?). So I went, but because my friend was having a bad allergic reaction at the beginning of the game, I missed the crowning of the King and Queen. And that was too bad because it took me a while find out who won after looking on the site homecoming.osu.edu. The Lantern didn't have a picture or write anything about them. I always thought the King and Queen were kind of a big deal (well maybe because I was Homecoming Queen in High School) so I was surprised to not hear anything, but hey at least we won the game!

After the Game I went to the Q's (Omega Psi Phi) "Back to the 80s" Party on High Street in this new event place in the South Campus Gateway. It was neat to see how a lot of people got into it and dressed up in their 80s gear and the DJ even played the theme song from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" which everyone sang in unison!
