We taped our last show of the year for Buckeye TV. I did my last story on the "Light Up the Lake Ceremony," where students come out to see the holiday lights around Mirror Lake turn on. I also hit 2 birds with one stone by writing an article for the Lantern and reporting on the same story for Buckeye 19 News!
Here's the Lantern article:http://media.www.thelantern.com/media/storage/paper333/news/2007/11/30/Arts/Mirror.Lake.Lights.Up.Holidays-3125607.shtml
And here's the News Show: http://youtube.com/watch?v=uEUpxWXOSxw (My part is 4 minutes into the show)
I shot the b-roll footage for my story in the dark and in 20-degree weather, and I also shot another reporter's story at the Student Health Clinic. Now if only I could edit my own stories on the Avid Editing program, I would be set as a reporter!
One of my good friends graduates on Sunday so I was glad that I got one last chance to see her before she moves back down to Texas and starts Law School. This girl is graduating 2 quarters with honors and is also very involved on campus.

I had a lot of time to study for my Final Exams on Wednesday, but of course I chose to wait till the last possible minute. I only had 2 Finals since there was no exam for the Lantern Class because we get tested in there everyday. My History 152 Final was at 9:30am and my Geological Science 108 Final was at 11:30am. So they were back to back, and I had a paper due at the same time in History.
I went to a Review Session with about 10 of my friends for my science class, and then I reviewed more with 2 of my friends in the Neil Building. I wasn't even going to study that hard for this Gemstones class, but my friends persuaded me, and we ended up studying till 3:00am! It started snowing hard too!
From 3:30-7:00am I finished reading the book I had to do my paper on, and I finally started writing it at 8:00! So I know this was extremely last minute since I basically gave myself an hour to write before my 9:30 Final, but I really could not come up with good thesis statement comparing this Immigrant's tale of 1890 to the Civil Rights Movement.
So I typed frantically till I was able to scrape up a page and a half, which just met the 3-5 pages requirement double spaced. Of course I was late to my Final and got there at about 9:50, but since it was snowing so bad there were more students who came later than me. I was just praying the whole way through the test since I didn't study for it after devoting my time to the paper and my other exam. But it was better than I thought especially since it was not cumulative, and my Professor told me not to worry since I got an A on the Midterm and came to every lecture.
My Gemstones Final wasn't too bad either, it was 95 Multiple choice questions on everything we covered this quarter. This class really proved to be a handfull. I came into it thinking it would be a fun and light science GEC, and then it turned on me. I was barely making B's on the Midterms, we had to do math equations, and I learned more about Diamonds, Rubies and Sapphires than I ever wanted to. I just wanted to know how to shop for a nice ring, and I ended up having to know the weight, luster, refractive index, carat, cut, and origin of a stone!
And that's College for you, always giving you more information than what you asked for!
