Happy MLK Day!

It's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and sadly, I didn't do anything. I had many opportunities to make it a day ON instead of a day OFF, but didn't take advantage of them. OSU always has the MLK service project that morning from about 9:00-1:00pm and then there's a March that the Iota Phi Theta fraternity puts on at 3:00pm. I did the service project last year and was planning on doing it today, but I was up all morning talking to people on my floor and knew that I would not be able to serve any community on a 2-hour nap. I could have participated in the March from the Hale Center on 12th Ave all the way to downtown Columbus, but I let the temperature govern that decision. I also had to get a new phone today since my old one started messing up on Saturday, and I couldn't go another day.
So I decided to get phone service over doing community service........Not the best choice, but I will make a better effort next year and will actually go to bed remotely on time!

The African American Voices Gospel Choir went to Bowling Green this weekend for their Annual College Gospel Fest. There were choirs from the University of Toledo, Akron, Wright State, Cincinatti, Berklee College of Music, and Bowling Green's choir of course. It was a nice event where each group performed about 2 songs. We sang really well. The only thing was the Bus ride was over 4 hours long when it was only supposed to be 2! We still don't know where the Bus Driver was trying to take us, maybe Detroit, but at least we made it there safely.

At Sunday's Buckeye TV meeting, I was made Producer over the News Show! Now this is something I wasn't expecting nor wanted because I'm already doing too many things as it is, and I think just being a Reporter is enough. But my friend Rob, who the News Director insisted since me and this other girl have been with Buckeye TV the longest and have some experience. The other girl backed down from being an Associate Producer, which made me the Producer. A News Show Producer has to write the Anchor reads, set the order of the show and give assignments to the writers while still reporting on a news story for that week. So I don't want to say that it's not going to work out, I just have to have faith that this new responsibility won't be more than I can handle.
