Lovely Week
Yesterday the News Crew and I only stayed up to 3:30am writing the News Show, and I was able to go to Church again. Only thing is we stayed up to about 6:00am on Friday to get a head start. So improvement was made, and who knows, we might be able to be done at midnight by the end of the quarter! I played at the Hockey games on Friday and Saturday night, and even though they were the usual long, cold 3 hours, it was the last time I had to deal with anything Hockey.
It was a Birthday filled week for me. My friend from choir had a surprise party in my dorm on Monday, my other friend had something at Buffalo Wild Wings on Tuesday night, and then another friend had a celebration at Eddie George's Grill on Wednesday.

I was glad I got a chance to see Spike Lee! He came to Ohio State because he won the Wexner Center Prize for Innovation and Creativity. The place was packed out, and I was all the way at the top struggling to see what Spike really looked like. He talked about his new movie coming out in November based on this book, Miracle at Saint Anna. It's a war picture that normally I don't think I would want to see, but after hearing him speak about its history, it sounds kind of interesting. It's based on the 1st Black platoon that fought in World War II. We got to watch a clip of it, and it was so intense and sad. Spike talked about the difficulties of being a black movie director, and that even though he has been in the business for so long, it's still hard for him to get money to produce his films. He seemed just like how I'd pictured him, very intelligent yet down to earth. He was also very short, but what celebrity isn't.

For Valentine's Day I kind of played Cupid and passed out treats to my bible study group, a couple of workers in the cafeteria, and some of my friends. I really didn't do too much beside shoot some news stories for other reporters outside in the cold and go to praise dance rehearsal later that night. My mentee baked me some cookies, and my friend Derrick from Atlanta sent me some beautiful roses!
