Last weekend
For the final weekend of the school year, I should be doing nothing other than studying for Finals right....but why now? Only the engineers and biochem students are hitting the books hard. Oh the lessons I choose to learn the hard way. But I'll get to it though since I have 2 exams back to back on Tuesday.
Looks like I become greatly influenced by the articles I write since I ended up seeing that play I wrote about, and I went to the fashion show tonight. The play, called "The Colored Museum" was soooo good, especially since I already knew so much about it from interviewing most of the cast. It was great seeing it all come together and pretty legendary to have an all-black cast on OSU's campus. It was a funny and quick show where they made fun of the traditional black plays that always included an overweight religious mama, a discouraged and angry son and his overly sophisticated and educated sister like in a "Raisin In The Sun" type of play. The cast sang and dance throughout the transitions from one exhibit to the next (since it was a "colored museum" where each scene was called an "exhibit"). The play also highlighted black soldiers, singers, cooks and touched on such touchy topics but in a comical way.

The Fashion show was really nice as well. It was almost hard to believe that students designed, created and modeled all the outfits. From long flowy, gowns to eccentric and chic pant suits and short stylish dresses, there were some hot designs. These Clothing and Textile majors got down. I had one friend that was a designer in the show, and she told me it tool her over a month to design and sew all her outfits while balancing that with classes and her job. The theme for the show was "The Phoenix Rises," which related to Breast cancer awareness.

Earlier today, the reporters of Buckeye TV took a little tour of the ABC 6 station, of which I was already pretty acquainted since I was going to do my internship there. We walked around and got to see the studio, met with two of the reporters who gave us their stories of what it takes to make it in the business, and one of the producers, Kerry Charles, who's the only black male at the station, gave us insight on what a typical day consists of for him all before he had to produce the evening news show. So it was a memorable experience and a great way to end off a busy and big year for Buckeye 19 News.

Yesterday I went to the last Acts Cafe of the year which was like a mini-Christian concert held right outside the RPAC and in front of the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. There were about 4 acts, including National Gospel recording artist Kiki Sheard. So it was a nice event that a lot of people came out to, even those who just finished working out at the gym and stayed around to hear the glorious music.

Ohio State has gotten some big names in Gospel to come through because tomorrow, the singing sister sensation Mary Mary is coming to preach at the "Jump Off" Campus Church service at Mirror Lake.

So once again, many events going on while I have yet to study or pack, but I'm getting there!
