The Gospel Concert of the Year
Since I am an Alumni Association Scholarship recipient, I got to have lunch with Archie Griffin and the other students who also received the scholarship. We ate in the Faculty Club on campus right in between the North and South Oval. A lot of students don't really recognize this brick building, but trust me, you'll be able to distinguish it when you walk by and smell real sausage and bacon and steak! It's primarily a place to eat for faculty, as the name suggests but of course students are welcomed on special occasions. The other recipients and I got to order whatever we wanted to eat (I got the Lamb chops!), and talk with different members of the Alumni Association staff. It's amazing how dedicated these people are to OSU so many years after they graduated.

On Mother's Day while most are spending time with their familes, Buckeye TV is stuck producing a news show. We ended at about 8:00pm and as I am leaving the station, the News Director, who's also my friend most days said he couldn't find his keys. So I try to stay a while and help him look for them, then when he finally locates them, and we are at our cars, his doesn't start. Again, I was so ready to take off, but I tried to picture how it would be if my car randomly broke down. I called the University Police for him and they were able to come bring jumper cables and start his car up.
Now while all this is going on, there's an ambulance and fire trucks in the front of Morrill Tower because a girl had just collapsed. My News Director, being the News junkie he is suggested that I go get the camera equipment and do a breaking news story at the scene. I reluctantly got a camera, He got some quick footage of the girl in the back of the ambulance, and I tried desperately to scrummage a story together when I basically had no information. So here's a look at the clip: http://youtube.com/watch?v=55h5I5gtQfM
Ever since my Freshman year, one of the employees in the Office of Minority Affairs has a cook-out in May and really throws down on the grill! It's nice how I haven't worked in the office since my 1st year, yet still keep in contact with all the people. After all they did fly me up to tour the campus my senior year in high school, and the people I met then are some of my closest friends till this day. So I was so excited to go to the cook-out and eat, but the Gospel Choir had a mandatory prayer night in prep for our concert as well. I still managed to get me a plate of course, and slid in at the tail end of the prayer night.

We had our big Spring Concert the next day titled "It's Not About Us!" We sang about 9 songs and had an opening act, and two dance groups perform so it lasted a couple of hours, which was good since normally the concerts go on for about 3 or 4!. I got my hair done that morning at my sister's old salon on Cleveland Avenue, and it took FOREVER. I mean I came in the shop at about 11:00 and didn't get out of there till 3:30pm. That would've been alright if it was a typical Saturday where I had nothing to do, but all the Choir members were expected to meet at the auditorium by 1:00pm. So once again, I'm strolling into a function way late, but at least I was still able to sing with the group and they didn't sit me down for my tardiness. Last year, my hair took less than 2 hours so I thought I would've been able to get it done like that again. Well nope on that idea! Because I got cut from being able to perform with my praise dance group since their call time was at 2:30pm. All the dance rehearsals I attended went to waste. I'm over it now, I think...but I know to set my hair appointment as early as possible next year!!!

Myself, and Graduationg Seniors Kalida, Cassi and the Choir Director Herb. (HOPE you like my hair, it took long enough!)
