Back home, but barely!
I knew I should have gotten a move on with studying and packing because it seems like every year the same stuff happens, where my procrastination truly gets the best of me. On Monday when I should have been in a book, I was getting a start on packing, except the only progress I made was taking down all the pictures and posters on my wall. I had friends coming over and I was watching TV well into 2 in the morning, and didn't even think to pick up a book until 6:00am the day of my Finals.
I studied for my Sociology exam first till about 8:00 and then began to review for my Hebrew final, which was at 9:30am. So I'm frantically flying through notes, going over the study guide and looking at maps of Jerusalem, but I still made it to the exam in good time, and believe it or not that Hebrew 370 Final was the best test I've ever taken. Maybe since it was basically over the Bible unlike any other class, but I really felt prepared for it and knew the information despite my lack of preparation. This was one of those tests where you're going through it and feel like you've gotten a solid 100 on it.
So I come out of that test cheerfully, and have to go straight into my Sociology 488 exam at 11:30am. But at least the buildings were relatively close and on South campus (I went from Arps Hall to Mendenhall). I was still perusing through notes as my Professor was handing out scantrons and pencils. This Final went alright and even though it was all mulitple choice, I could tell I needed to study a little more because I was mixing up theorists and principles left and right, but I've done decently in the class thus far so I still should get a good grade.
Now, that I had the Final exams complete and out of the way, I had a lunch date with one of my friends whom I never see around campus anymore and we've been trying to meet up for the longest. So we eat at my beloved Zaxby's which is a fabulous chicken and fries type place on High Street similar to Cane's except they have wings! (www.zaxbys.com/mostpopular_wings.html) This is a huge chain all over the Southeast so I was so happy that Columbus finally got one this year. After this, I pretty much just fall asleep on the floor, and little did I know that this would be my final rest of the day.
My freshman mentee calls me up around 6pm and says she wants to get together one last time, and I say sure even though I had no business going anywhere since I had to clear out my dorm room all in time for my 7:30am flight the next morning! But after I got back with her, I drafted my good friend Lisa to help me pack up all my clothes and then my sister came as well to assist with Project Pack. I literally packed all night and was putting away things that I should have put up looooong before now. I ended up getting 2 more friends from my dorm to help out and even recruited this random boy on my floor because I got that that desperate for help and time was surely ticking.
These guys helped me pack from midnight to 5:00am, the very time I should have been at the airport! And did I mention how it had been raining with thunder and lightning all night?! These were some true friends indeed because I don't know if I could have helped someone so extensively to get all wet and risk being struck down. So I speed all the way to my sister's place so that she can take me to the Airport. We make it there by 6:00am and I actually make the flight. It's not even cancelled or delayed due to the weather.
Now, I'm at home in Atlanta and in utter amazement of how rapid the last 24 hours have been. So although it all worked out, I vow to never push it to the limit like that again because I have a life to live, and I don't want to be all burnt out trying to live it!
