Week with my friends...finally!

Outside of my internship, I have a lot of free time since I don't really have to do any take home work.So I have more time to get together with my firends...well at least the ones who are still up here taking summer classes. I finally got to see my friend Kay's apartment since she has been inviting since last year, but I could never find a good time to make it over there.

I also went to my friend Bever-leigh's bowling birthday party. It was nice and fun even though I don't really bowl much because the ball somehow seems to find a way to mess up my nails, and plus I'm not too good at it. Since she runs track, she had a lot of her athlete freinds there so I definitely did not want to go and embrass myself in front of half the track, basketball and football team with my stellar gutter balls!

So I also have been able to finally see Bever-leigh's place too since she has been inviting me over for the longest as well. We're going to try to get together at least once a week, which I can do especially since she can cook and college students are always in search of a meal!

I was able to spend some time with my good friend Sie'ara after her classes, and she wanted to wow me with her massive DVD collection, so needless to say, we watched at least 4 movies that day when I was only going to stop by for an hour!

I have 3 other friends staying on campus for the summer so whenever I'm at OSU, I make sure to pay them a visit. It's probably better to get with a lot of my buddies early in the summer because for some reason when it gets closer to the end, it gets harder to make the time.
A lot of us got together to watch the big BET Awards at my sister's apartment, which was nice until my sister shooed everyone out since she had to be at work at 6:00am.

After I got done with my internship on Thursday, I went to a Bible study with my friend Andrea since it was put on by her Church. It was a neat group that meets on campus on 9th Ave, and I got to meet so many other believers. The only thing was everyone wanted to talk and hang out afterwards, which is fine for the summer, except I still have to be at NBC in the morning, and it was already midnight, so I had to cut the conversations short.

On Friday, I went on an interesting story with reporter, Mikaela Hunt about the Columbus school levy and foreclosed homes. We had to interview the schoolboard president and then talk to some realtors. I don't know if I would be able to keep all the information straight if I had to do 2 thorough stories each day for the 5:00 and 6:00 News, but all the reporters seem to keep it together. In addition to reporting on their stories, the have to shoot teases, which give viewers a heads-up about what's to come, and now they also have to do a whip for their new 4:00pm show, which is just a 45-second synopsis of what their story's about.

Later that day, I went on a story to a Church's basketball camp with just a photographer where I got to do all the interviewing! So once again, I was excited yet a little hesitant since I was basically going to be in the reporter's position. On the way to the church I was reviewing more on what the the camp's history was and trying to prepare all my questions in advance. The church (New Grace Apostolic) was actually on the same street (Cleveland Ave) as the New Salem Baptist Church I attend, and I saw two of my friends from Choir who were helping out with their camp. I interviewed the Pastor who was nice because the Church gives away free Nike tennishoes to all the kids participating. So I interviewed some of the kids as well, who were so excitied to get their new shoes and even more egaer to be on TV. The pastor even gave me and the photog some new sneakers! Guess the TV business does have its benefits!
