Top 10 Reasons to Choose CSE
A lot of my younger friends, who are just entering college, or have last year, are going to OSU. They are in a wide range of fields, but none of them are in my major: Computer Science Engineering (CSE). I don't know why; it's the best engineering major (*cough* bias). This is why:
The Top 10 Reasons to Major in CSE:
10) Labwork involves, at most, sitting at a computer. No messy chemicals or icky dissections (just a bunch of syntax errors!).
9) Free software! CSE Majors get a ton of fancy software. Didn't you always want Vista? Neither did I.
8) You might get a job out of college. You'll be able to afford the highest quality cardboard boxes (corrugated!), and laugh at the flimsy boxes of the liberal arts majors down the street.
7) The ratio of the amount of homework I get compared the amount of homework my roommates get (chemistry related majors) is too low to make public. My roommates hit me enough as it is.
6) CSE jargon is just as indecipherable as chemistry or biology jargon. Don't be excluded from the ability to exclude others!
5) If you really hate the major three years into the program, you can always transfer. To CIS.
4) When robots take over the world, we will be the first population to be targetted for extermination. Wait a minute, that's not a good reason at all.
3.14) You occasionally might find pi related jokes to be funny.
2) Exercise! Walking up to the 256th floor in Dreese Labs easily offsets the sedentary schedule of sitting at a computer all day. That's why the elevators are programmed to change their speeds to "inconvenient" during high traffic hours. And don't worry about cardiac arrest: the complementary external defibrillators ensure you'll be sitting in that computer chair in no time.
1) To engage in stimulating social interaction.
