So I walked into Costco today and saw an employee sprinting towards me, with an urgent look on his face. He ran right past me and out the door, and then tackled a guy down and yelled to the bystanders to call the police. I went to take a look and there were three Costco guys sitting on a person. A lot of people gathered around to see what had happened. A police car arrived and handcuffed the guy and took him away.

I learned from an employee that he stole a video game. But Costco doesn't have good video games, I thought. Alex and I check the game selection and the only 2 games they had were a children's game and World of Warcraft. I'm guessing he didn't steal Barbie's Pony Adventures, but it's also hard to believe that someone would take WoW. The guy looked like a normal dad in his thirties. If he's poor enough that he has to steal, then why would he steal a video game, especially WoW? You have to pay $15 a month!

What also makes no sense is the reaction of the store. Okay, a guy steals a $35 computer game. Go run out and approach him or ID his car and call the police. You don't have to risk your life to save a copy of WoW. At least give him some dignity. Heck, let him go. Stealing WoW is it's own punishment.
