My name is Anna, from Allegan, Michigan. I’m a junior this year, majoring in English Education and Bible. I’m a big fan of reading, hanging out with a lot of friends, picnicking, taking photos, and playing solitaire (I once won a game in 57 seconds!).

This Summer...

So, it's definitely been a while since I've last posted...I suppose I'll take this opportunity to fill you all in on what I've been up to this summer.

It'd take a long time to explain by myself, but I'm working at a Child Evangelism Fellowship summer camp for inner-city Chicago kids in southwest Michigan called Camp Beechpoint (of which my father is the director). Here's my support letter; that might explain a bit better.

"Dear Friends and Family:

What a year it has been! I just finished my freshman year (though I’ll be starting this fall as a second-semester sophomore, if you want to be technical – which I do) at Philadelphia Biblical University, majoring in both English Education and Biblical Studies. Lately, I have felt a pull toward urban youth especially, and am looking into perhaps one day working in downtown Philly or the Bronx as a high school English teacher…the more I consider it, the greater a ministry opportunity it seems! I’m continuing my favorite hobbies of reading, singing and socializing, but as for this summer…

…I’m back at Camp Beechpoint! However, this summer I’ve been presented with the unique opportunity to minister to the inner city and underprivileged youth of Chicago through our new and more intense teen program! I’m incredibly (in the most literal sense of the word) excited to be involved in this program, but equally intimidated by the increase in responsibility and the prospect of working with more mature girls, much more aware of the world around them.

I feel that this past year, God has been growing and maturing me for such a position as this. I simply cannot wait to see what He has in store for me this summer. It’s a true statement that “Lives Are Changed At Camp, but I firmly believe that the lives of the counselors are as impacted as the campers to whom we minister.

As eager as I am to do His will in my life, I am wholeheartedly aware that it’s not by my own strength. I’d like you to consider being a part, a very integral part of my summer ministry! Whether it’s through a gift of financial support, or simply through prayer (our greatest asset!), you will have a direct impact on the outcome and success of this ministry. Even sending me an occasional letter of encouragement would be unbelievably appreciated!

I thank and love you all – and will update you on the ministry nearer to the end of the summer!

With faith, hope and love,

Anna D."
