My name is Anna, from Allegan, Michigan. I’m a junior this year, majoring in English Education and Bible. I’m a big fan of reading, hanging out with a lot of friends, picnicking, taking photos, and playing solitaire (I once won a game in 57 seconds!).

Two More Weeks

Yes, I'm still in Texas. And it's beginning to surprise me how often I find myself marveling at an exceptionally cool day, loving the breeze and spending time out-of-doors without the need of the A/C-ed inside... only to realize the thermometer reads 92 degrees. Whoa. I can hardly imagine how I'll react when I'm back in Michigan (I fly home six days from now!) and the highest it gets is 85, if that. I'm sure I'll enjoy it... but what a shock it will be!

This week, I'm at the Springs location of Forest Glen Camps - spending my time life guarding, refilling water coolers, and chilling indoors, reading a good book.

Camp Good News Memories!

Some of my faaaavorite things from this summer:

1) Being called Princess Peach by everyone on campus (each counselor/staff member is given a nickname at training. I was dubbed "Princess Peach" because of my long, wavy blond hair and the apparent resemblance between me and a certain MarioKart character.)

2) Learning how to Texas Two-Step and line dance! ...Not going to lie, I'm becoming more and more partial to country music! (Hopefully my Yankee friends and family won't disown me.........because it's been suggested.)

3) FROU-FROU NIGHT!!! Girls get dressed up in their best pinks and purples, and we spend the evening painting nails, dancing and singing to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus... and a fashion show! In one such show, I was dressed (by my campers) as the Virgin Mary. Needless to say, I won - hands down.

4) Celebration! Evening worship... during Teen Week, I was asked to help lead worship, and that was one of my favorite things of all time.

5) ESPIONAGE!!! One night, during Celebration, the "Others" outted the lights, kidnapped one of our counselors, and gave us a secret mission to rescue the stolen staff member. So we as cabins dressed in our darkest clothes or camo and set off into the woods (AT NIGHT) to the different locations to receive and pass on certain information. The "Others" though, were positioned along the trails and when they pointed their flashlights at us, we had to freeze. If we froze, they couldn't see us or they thought we were trees. If we moved, they could do embarrassing things to us: dirt angels, sizzling on the ground like bacon, spray us with shaving cream or sparkles, drizzle honey and syrup on our heads, color on our faces....... SO much fun. And in the end, after we delivered the CD full of 'information' to the drop-off, we got popsicles! :)

6) Generally just being outside! I've never been so tan in my life! Nor so active! It's beautiful! (I'm the tan one, charging the ball about to be kicked!)
