"Turns out not where you are but who you're with that really matters." Dave Matthews Band

Well, summer has been glorious, albeit different than I expected. I am so happy to be able to be home with my sister and brother. I have had the distinct privilege of visiting with lots of different friends, and I still get to visit camp a few times a week. Which is good, because camp is pretty much the closest thing to heaven here on earth.

This past weekend, my friend Brook came over and spent time with my family. We decided to do some tie-dying (letting out our inner hippie) and talk. We even went to Wal-Mart, which was quite an experience on crutches (we counted about 20 people that stared at my fixator).

So what I have been learning lately is perfectly articulated in the title, thanks to Dave Matthews Band. It really is who you spend your time with that is important. And I am so grateful to have been blessed with such fantastic loved ones.

Anyway, here are some pictures from our tie-dying extravaganza. Enjoy your summer, too. For me. :-)

Brook found a plastic sword in his car to stir the dye with. It looks like blood. :-)

I am blessed.

Well, friends, a lot has happened to me since the last time I posted.

On June 10th, I was in a serious head-on car collision. They used the Jaws of Life to get me out. I should have died, I am pretty convinced. I ended up having very few injuries even though my car was literally crushed. I had a few broken bones in my right foot and broke a pinky. I also bit through my lip and had several stitches to repair that. But the main inury was that my heel was obliterated. I spent two weeks in the hospital, had two surgeries, and went to the O.R. twice more to have a special vacuum put onto my foot. I now have a very neat external fixator on my foot, and will have it on for a few more weeks until they can do more surgery to fix the bone properly.

Well, I cannot get past how faithful God has been in all of this. He has greeted me with arms of compassion and love. He has been the one I have had to turn to and be dependent on. He has blessed me with my life, but also with beautiful friends and family to take care of me. So I am so glad for his provisions and for all the love I have received.

I will be holed up for a while, but I am learning new things every day.

This was on Father's Day...they let my family take me outside for the first time since the accident! It was beautiful.
