Hey everyone! My name is Trevor. I am from Mt. Holly, NJ in Burlington County. I am in the Dual Degree Social Work Program here at PBU. I’m also a piano player and have been playing for about 15 years. I play for the PBU  Gospel Choir, which has been a blessing. The Lord has also blessed me to be able to play at a lot of places over the last few years. I like to have fun, laugh a lot, and joke around. Random fact about me: I talk to myself and laugh at my own jokes. Okay, don’t laugh, I am an only child! Is that still weird?

MY TEACHER, MY FRIEND, MY BROTHER

So this week was finals week, and what a week it is. This is the last time that a lot of us get to see our teachers that meant a lot to us during this 18 week period that we spent with them. My favorite teacher was Mr. Hardesty. He teaches in the IJS department as well as a lot of the Old Testament classes. This is my third semester at this school, and this is the third class that I took with Mr. Hardesty. He means a lot to me and truly had an impact on my growth as a Christian as well as my understanding and life application for the Old Testament. We grew close and emailed each other during the week. The thing is, Mr. Hardesty does not teach any New Testament classes which means that my classes with him are over.
Every class, he comes to class with a diet Snapple, peach flavored, so what I did was go to the gas station, and got him 3 Snapple's for the 3 semesters that he taught me. Ok, corny yes, suck up, no; he just was the closest friend that I have had for a while; when I went to his office to give them to him, he looked at me and said, "You are the type of student that teachers pray for; you are certainly in mine. You are not just a student to me, you are closer than that. I love you. Make us proud." Those are words that will stick with me for the rest of my life and I am truly thankful for the relationship that the Lord allowed me to have with him not only as a teacher, but a friend, and as a brother.

New to the game

OK, well, this is my first time as a blogger for PBU and I am very excited about it! You can say that I'm "new to the game". I work in the admissions office and I truly love it! I love coming into contact with other students that are considering PBU as their choice of schools. It's my opportunity to not convince you that PBU is an amazing place to be, but to show you how much it truly affected and changed my life! (For the better of course) so a brief Trevor bio…born and raised to fear the Lord, which is a good thing, but like Paul says, what I don't want to do I do and I did. I "tested" the Lord and tried to live life on my own. He allowed me to fail and fall time and time again…HARD...It seemed as if struggling and living life vicariously was better to live life in His will and struggle with Him.
Finally, thankfully, the Lord allowed me to see that anything outside of His will, would lead to death. Not always actual death, but true separation from God. He allowed me to go through a few things that really shook me up and showed me that there is no peace outside of Him. The fire that once was started truly was rekindled and the thirst and hunger that I had for the Word grew. That's where PBU came into the picture. It not only added fuel to my fire, but show me how to keep it at a consistent flame. PBU has true community, solid biblical truth, and a body of believers that holds you accountable to everything. Maybe you are a student that is struggling spiritually, and wants to get a stronger foundation in the Word. Maybe you need a stronger "community" or body of believers to surround yourself with to allow you therefore grow stronger in Him! Not saying that you won't struggle, but 1 Peter 5:10-11 says, "but may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, AFTER YOU HAVE SUFFERED A WHILE, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen" 1st Corinthians tells us that if one of us suffers, then we all suffer, but if one rejoices, then we all rejoice! Let's, TOGETHER, grow, struggle, and help each other in this Christian journey. me%20nd%20lyn.jpgl_7a1f2f6ce44625dc3fb6f7eaff18ebf3.jpgme%20speakin%5D.jpg
