Hey everyone! My name is Trevor. I am from Mt. Holly, NJ in Burlington County. I am in the Dual Degree Social Work Program here at PBU. I’m also a piano player and have been playing for about 15 years. I play for the PBU  Gospel Choir, which has been a blessing. The Lord has also blessed me to be able to play at a lot of places over the last few years. I like to have fun, laugh a lot, and joke around. Random fact about me: I talk to myself and laugh at my own jokes. Okay, don’t laugh, I am an only child! Is that still weird?

Retreat Gospel Choir

GetAttachment.jpg
So, I was asked to play at a retreat and be the worship leader for the weekend...What a privilege! There were 4 churches that attended and I got the privilege to play and lead worship with them. Well, through all of the excitement of the offer, I forgot that I couldn’t sing! Well, not enough to really lead. So, I prayed about it, and the Lord gave me a brilliant idea, make a choir! That would be one good way for the youth up there to better meet each other, a bonding, and fellowshipping time to be with one another. So I asked who wanted to be a part of the choir. At first, NO ONE looked interested, but then, a few people recruited, and we had a good group of youth. I was truly blessed by the experience and they sounded amazing after just 2 hours of rehearsing. We sang that night at the evening session, and they truly sounded amazing. I taught them 2 songs, 1) Halleluiah, salvation and glory, and 2) We sing the praises to the king…It was truly a pleasure to be able to use my gift once again for the glory of His Kingdom. -1 Samuel 22:50-“Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.

Solitude by Trevor Chin

Nature_Mountains.jpg
Psalms 104 talks about God and His wonder!
Clouds being His chariots, wind being His winds
Flame being created, earth as foundations
Waters standing above mountains,
Springs through the valleys
Feelings filled with awe
Just looking at trees standing tall,
I’ve never worship so heavily, by looking at nature,
As I drove to a retreat, through the country side,
Being 6 in the morning, I could barely open my eyes
As the sun began to slowly rise, or as the earth moved around the sun
The attraction of perfection caught my sight
Seeing His wonderful awesomeness, power filled creation
Looking to the hills, for as long as eyes can see

Everything praises Him in what they do,

The clouds seem to give Him praise
The mountains filled with trees,
I had to pull over, park,
Caused me to stop, stand, stare, you almost can’t believe you’re there
You read verses like psalms 104 and psalms 121
The author must have been looking at something like this
As moisture seemed to build and buckle within my eyes,
Could see nothing but how awesome He is
How small, humble one feels to such an amazing sight
How grateful one feels to be a part of this amazing creation
How amazed at the work of His hand
Understanding perfection, and seeing it with your eyes
The trees seemed to wind and turn in unison
It’s like they tried to push each other out the way to reach higher
Trying to acquire the…attention of the sun
Every blade of grass stood as high as they could,
Like they were proud to be a part of perfection
Even the wind blew in such a way to push everything around to show its power
It was like nature was at a peaceful, ruckus of worship;
To praise God in such a fashion that is almost indescribable
Most poems rhyme or have a theme, how can you describe perfection?
Remember when Ezekiel described his vision of the Most High?
And he sounded confused?
To see the work of the Most High in its perfection…Something about the sight of nothing, it seems like everything
On top of that bridge I stood, in the midst of life,
No cars, dirt road, no street lights, no distractions
I sat, gasped, awed, worship, thanked Him, and for the first time in my entire life
Understand it...

Environment Vs. Genetics

Copy%20of%20scan0003.jpg
What mostly affects you as a person? You personality, your friends, your interests, you life? If you could choose either environment or genetics, one getting 80% and the other getting 20%, not giving either one 100%, which one would get which percentile? (for example; environment 80% genetics 20% or vice versa)

Think about it! Don’t read my answer yet! What do you think?

Today during J-Term world civilization with Mr. Palladino (amazing teacher, take him if you haven’t-it will change your philosophy on so many things...check his blog out also) we struggled with this question. It’s not an easy answer! It brought out a lot of personalities. It actually had me to prove my point by admitting some things about myself! Now ok, if you were in the class, you would know, but maybe not something I’m ready to tell the WORLD WIDE WEB! Ok it was nothing bad, but my answer was this; I gave environment 80% and genetics 20%. Everything that we know is because of our surroundings and not so much of our genetics. Me for instance, I was raised with a house full of women and no men. I was the man of the house at a booming 5 years old. (Look at that, man of the house and I am just able to eat hard foods about a year ago.) Well, my cousins that I grew up with, which were females, played a big role in my life. Now because of that, I do find myself more sensitive and emotional then my male friends as well as being more sensitive and aware of female’s feelings. If I was raised with a lot of men in my life and being rough every day, would that have changed my personality now? I think so. John Locke, around the 18th century, said that, “the human mind at birth is akin to a tabula rasa, a blank slate upon which impressions are lain. Locke feels that we have not “innate ideas and everything that we know comes from experience. Do you agree? Are we more affected by our environment, or our genetics?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Lion of Judah

Photo_030208_013.jpg
So I know that a lot of you are probably wondering why I have a lion in my head! Well, it's not a tattoo, it is a haircut. Pretty cool, I know. There is actually a funny story behind that. I did a hair show in Atlantic City for my cousin who is a barber. There were thousands of hair designs, women and men, and haircuts that looked absurd. Well it was interesting, because I wanted a way, being that I was labeled as the "bible school guy", to be able to minister effectively, not only through words but in actions and not ruin my testimony.
We have to represent the Kingdom in everything we do! We are a representation of the body of Christ, and we can't be "ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes" Romans 1:16…lion-head.gif
