Hey, I’m Tyler, a Pastoral Major from Glen Mills, PA. I graduate in May and leave for the Army June 25, 2009. I have recently become addicted to rock climbing, and I have always been addicted to rock crawling in my Jeep.

The last two weeks of the semester...

Wow, has this semester flown by! Last week was a busy, busy week. With papers and floor hockey and classes. I love writing papers! Last week my floor hockey team won the intramural championship game. We finished out our season undefeated, its too bad we are a losing a few of our seniors so next year might not be such an easy repeat.

This week I have been cramming all day and night for exams, final exams that is. What is the best part of finals though? Late night cramming and going out to eat with your friends. Last night by buddy Brian, his wife Caroline and my friend Tini all came over to my house and we had steak and great conversation.

I also spend a lot of time in the library, this is also where you can run into all of your friends because everyone is studying.

Hmmm... I will have to update this soon with whats going on. I have one more final to take tomorrow at Noon and them I am good for a week until my summer class starts. I will keep you guys and gals updated this summer with what is going on over break.

God Bless,

Tyler

What to do while procrastinating...

There are many PBU inside jokes here, and if you come to join us you will laugh a lot more at this picture later on.

A card from Momma

Well, my birthday is coming up. Not going to say when though, but my Mom remembered (As parents often do) and sent me a birthday card. She is a great lady and has supported me at PBU and becoming a preacher. It is fun going home because she asks about what I am learning at PBU and its a chance to share all that I have learned in class.

Anyways, its a busy weekend so I dont have time to write much. But, here is the card my Mom sent me.

Romans by the Pond

Oh man, was it a great day out today. Mid 60s, clear sky, great people. It was a great day. I got to take a break after my Lit and Arts 2 class and just go sit by the pond and worship God by getting into His word. I read out of Romans today.

Awesome, right? Anyways...

You get to see the students but here is a picture of the lady behind tracking us down and giving us the opportunity to blog with you. After letting me know that she missed my camera, I proceeded to get the cell phone picture with mere seconds for her to respond...

So after meeting with Becky (the boss), and after studying Romans with God (wow, awesome) I went to go buy a real camera (yeah, got one, I will upload pictures from that later. I used my cell phone for the rest of the trip.) I then Ran into my buddy Andy who is in the same night class as me, and he informed me that he had some free chicken sandwich combo meal tickets for Chick-Fil A, so in exchange for half my WAWA hoagie we went to Chick Fil A, each armed with a free chicken combo ticket in hand.

Then we realized we had 15 minutes to get back to campus, park and get up to our night class... so we went and got back in the car.

Then... about a mile from campus it happened... a well known late 80s... maybe early 90s song came on the radio... Andy started to sing... And I recorded it.

So we got back to class on time, literally ON TIME... 15 seconds to spare. And now class is over so I will be heading to my floor hockey game soon, we are playing the champs from last year. I will post the pictures from class that my buddy Ju Young and I took... messing around during the lab portion of class. Today was a really great day.

Ah! do forgive me!

I have been absent for a week now, it has been pretty hectic recently with papers and projects due. But what is awesome is that SOAR day was last Friday. I remember my SOAR day, it was the middle of the summer and I came an hour early by accident but I got to meet my future RA and actually became really close friends with him over the last three years.

So at this SOAR day during lunch I met a few new students and it was great! I am excited about next year because there are some really awesome new students coming in and hopefully I will get them to come join a lot of the activities elsewhere also. Some 4x4 enthusiasts are coming in this Fall so they will definitly have to come out with my 4x4 ministry.

Here is a quick run down of everything that happened this past week that you missed:
- Floor hockey, we won another game and are now seated at 2 - 0
- Two exams and papers... DONE. Currently writing a 10 page paper and I am on page 6 and really feel like I will need more than 10 pages.
- Celebrated my Dad's birthday
- Edited a video for my friend's Church, I am excited to see if they liked how it came out.
- Bought three new books (anyone thinking about being a Pastoral Major, you will learn that books are more important than food... specially Theological books)
- And some other school activities that for some reason seem to be slipping my mind...

Something amazing this week that I really want to share with you all is the relationships between professors and students. Dr. Yoder is a professor that I first had my Sophomore year for Philosophy. In high school I hated Philosophy but after his class I had this passion to learn all that I could. It was about that time that I started getting addicted (no other word for it) to studying the Theology of the Early Church Fathers. Putting these two new passions together I got on this kick for everything Philosophical and Theological, its amazing! But, back to the story. I am in the professor reading group with Dr. Yoder, once we get through this book we are talking about going on to another book, but I am going to choose.

"The City of God" by St. Augustine of Hippo. This book impacted the middle ages in such a way that it only comes second to the Holy Bible. This is a major influence on contemporary Christianity also yet it is not delved into by modern Christians today. So Dr. Yoder and I are going to dig into that book and... honestly... I am stoked. This isn't for credit, or for a reading group or any assignment. Dr. Yoder is taking time out of his schedule to help encourage me in my passion for Theology and Philosophy.

I have taken classes at 2 other Universities besides PBU, just to take classes and this school is the only place that I have found Profs with dedication like that to the students. Not saying they aren't out there, I am just saying that I have found it time and time again with all of my professors.

This next week, although busy... Is going to rock.

Also, I was at a car show on Friday... simply awesome. I will try to post some pictures up this week, I am still dealing with the loss of my poor camera (you are never forgotten).

Alright I am stoked!...

What an awesome day today. It is beautiful out! So I decided, I am going to take my road bicycle out. After messing around for a little bit I decided I should find out how far my Church is from me. So off I went. On the road bike the Church is only 10 minutes away! How amazing! I spent some time in prayer at the Church in their garden. I loved it. God is so amazing and powerful, just opening myself up to Him and seeking out His guidance. God is powerful and good.

I am looking forwards to Church tomorrow morning. I think I am going to go jump on my bike for another ride, the best part about it is IT DOESN'T TAKE ANY GAS! WAHOO!!!!!

I hope your all seeking out God truly and opening yourself up to His path for you.

God is good,

Holla' Backs Floor Hockey

Thats right... The Holla' Backs floor hockey team is on a winning streak (1 - 0).

The season has started, the greatest intramural sport has begun... FLOOR HOCKEY. We have a pretty good team this season, our name is the Holla' Backs... why? because we wanted to be.

We won our first game last night against a team of mainly Freshman, they were talented though especially their goalie. But we still won, I had 3 goals (hat trick) and 2 assists. I forgot how much running was involved. It is really a great time when we all get to come together and play, have fun, lots of laughing and sweating. It gets pretty intense but in the end we are always smiling and laughing.

If any of you come to visit in the spring you need to check out a floor hockey game, make sure to cheer for the Holla' Backs.

Great idea...

So sometimes my friends and I have great ideas... other times... not so much. It was a good idea for Tini, Jesse, and I to visit our friend Brian who is sick with the flu. We got to cheer him up, and play wii for a couple hours. It was a bad idea in that I am now sick haha with the flu. I have a great immune system but I have been working and writing papers and trying to catch up with friends so I haven't been giving sleep top priority and I just wore myself out. Meh, it happens.

This gives me a day to rest and catch up and get ahead on my work. I have already been productive enough to clean my kitchen. (I can stay inside but it is hard for me to sit still when my medicine hasn't kicked in yet). I thought, while I was waiting for meds to kick in, that I would update you with whats been going on.

Last night we celebrated Josh's birthday with Dominos (5-5-5 deal) Soda (some of you call it 'pop' and you are wrong its soda) and good times. Its always fun when you get a group of us in the conference room with pizza and soda. His mom also came up and brought a cake (it was delicious). We took some funny photos but I will have to get them from other people's cameras to post them if I can.

Yesterday afternoon Tini and I worked on the Chevy and got the door frame up and together which is awesome. It is that much closer to being a car again, it is starting to look like a car again which is AMAZING! Not bad for a college kid with a welder.

We also took the 1929 Ford for a ride because it was such a nice day. I rolled to campus on Sunday with it in search of Josh (on his birthday-day) but could not find him. Instead I found myself in my buddy Dan's dorm room studying intensely... xbox360.

Tuesday night in night class I was talking to my buddy Andy and a few other people and I came to the conclusion that Andy is the manliest man alive. Therefore we made a facebook group called Andy is so manly... and we list facts about how manly he is. Such as...

"Andy got mad in Japan, stomped his foot and turned them into islands."
And my personal favorite (since I am a Pastoral Major, and remember these are highly sarcastic)

"Andy's mustache is saved by works" The first time I read that one I spit out my water that I was drinking because I laughed so hard.

Alright my medicine is kicking in so I will have to tell you about life later and get you some pictures. I really need to get a new camera.

But I leave you with a quote from President William in Chapel:
"Do we hope for relief and find joy in God, or do we hope to find joy in relief?"

Write that down.
