Sorry I never got around to doing one last blog for Freshman year at PC, well anyways here it is.
Overall, my first year was everything that I thought it would be ... scary at first, stressful managing time, and getting used to new people, but in the end it is my new home.
Those first few weeks filled with scary moments turned into the routine that I grew to love, the stressfull classes and managing time became fun filled with hard work and extracurriclular activities and finally those new people transformed from complete strangers to my friends.
I'm home for the summer, enjoying the relaxation of no school work. But there is still that part of me, that can't wait to go back to Providence and do it all over again next year!
Talk to you all in September! Enjoy your summer!
P.S. I got accepted into the honors program, wooo!
Last Friday May 1st I had my last day of classes of my freshmen year at PC! But although that statement is exciting by itself, many great things came to an end last week that I will miss ..
Last Wednesday was the last time my San Miguel Mentoring group met and I got to see Kenny. We all enjoyed a barbeque on the lower quad and played wiffle ball and kickball. All the mentors and mentees got to sign PC frisbees and exchange them. I brought some candy to give Kenny as a "going away for the summer present" and he wrote me a letter. I will definately miss seeing him twice a month but hopefully he will be in the program next year as my mentee again.
For a "DONE WITH CLASSES" celebration a few of my friends and I went out to dinner on Federal Hill and had some delicious food. It was good to get away from campus for a while but then it was back to the library to study CIV. But it is all done. I took my CIV exam at 4:00 this afternoon and I can now say I am half way through CIV, wooo!
Tomorrow is a reading day and then 2 exams on Wednesday and a take home essay due Friday and home I go!
Here are some pictures from the BBQ:

One week from tomorrow I will officially be done my first year of college, so crazy! But with that said, I still have a whole week left and it is just jammed pack with so much stuff to do.
This weekend was the Dance Club Spring Show and it was a success as usual. It was sad to say goodbye to the seniors, especially Jenna and Aimee who choreograph my tap dance, they have just been phenomenal.
This morning was registration. I unfortunately had the second day of registration for my class so there was not a lot to choose from, but I think it all worked out. I'm taking 9:30 Civ, British Literature II, Contemporary Christian Thought and Intro to Human Services. It should be a good semester!
Tonight we have a meet and greet social for Admission Ambassadors at 5:00 and I am very excited about that. It is our first oppurtunity as new ambassadors to get to meet everyone and all that fun stuff so I am pumped!
Hopefuly I will have time to update again this week. To all you high school seniors out there, that May 1st deadline is approaching! Let me know if you have any last minute questions about PC !!

Last night the PC Board of Programmers hosted "Third Eye Blind" for our spring concert. My sister and her two best friends who are practically like my other sisters came to hang out and go to the concert because lucky them they are on vacation. What was cool was my friend Caileigh had her sister and friends come as well and they are all sophomores so it was basically like a party, haha! I also work with Caileigh and all the girls during the summer at a basketball camp so it was great to see them! The concert was a a lot of fun, I did not know the band that well but I knew a few songs and they tried some new ones for us too and overall it was a good night!
Today however the stress began. I have a paper due on Thursday that I had not started and just came back from the library where I spent 3 hours writing it. Today was also housing! Talk about stress. My roomies Annemarie and Lauren and myself had 10:27 for a housing time which is pretty good and ended up on SECOND FLOOR AQUINAS which is what we wanted to we are happy. A bunch of my friends are on that floor too and the rest are on 4th floor, so next year should be a great year!
Only a week and 1/2 left of classes, the home stretch is on! I will update again later this week! Here are some pictures from the concert...

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter. Here at PC we had a 5 day break, definately a perk and it was much needed let me tell you! Now we are in the 3 week home stretch toward FINALS WEEK..here goes nothing...
In other news, I have been thinking non-stop of what I wanted to do with my major, whether to declare or not declare. I finally decided that my heart was in teaching and my passion is English so I am officially English/Secondary Education and I am so excited. I ran around all morning getting signatures and this afternoon it became official..talk about a relief!
Althought I am declared now, to all you future PC students out there, I highly recommend coming in Undeclared if you are unsure of what you want to do like I was. I was pretty sure I was leaning toward English but I was not positive. I have a lot of friends that came in declared and have already switched their majors a few times. Bottom line: it is worth coming in undeclared!
In other news, I am also a new Admission Ambassador, so on top of my blog I will be doing day visits/info sessions as well!
I know this is the peak of college decision making so I just wanted to take the time to let all the potential PC prospects out there know some of the reasons I chose PC:
* Perfect Population Size--with just about 4000 undergrads I know that I will see my friends and familiar faces everyday, however I also meet new people on a daily basis too. It is a great size student population that you are not just a number, yet all your business is not known either.
* Division I Atmosphere-- I was a bigtime athlete in high school who played three sports and considered playing in college. However, when I realized that PC was right for me, the Division I Athletics was a huge plus because the competition is intense and the Big East Conference is really well known.
* Citylife -- As I mentioned in my previous blog, I came very close to going to school in the middle of nowhere and after experiencing school in the city, I could not imagine being anywhere else. Also, Providence is a great size city too, there is always something to do, yet it is not too overwhelming. As a PC student we also get free transportation on the local bus called the RIPTA so you can literally go into Providence anytime!
* Liberal Arts Backgound -- Although I am sure there are nightmares floating around out there about the Western Civ program, we truly are lucky to have it here at Providence. It is the core of our college and you get such a great background of information that will really last with you well past graduation. PC is well known for Civ and that makes a huge impact when it comes to job applications in the future.
* Feels Like Home -- When I stepped on to the PC campus, I instantly got the feeling that I knew this is where I belonged. Although the other reasons I listed above are 100% valid, nothing compares to that feeling you get when you know where you are meant to be. PC gave me that feeling and if you have got it too, then I cannot wait to see you on campus next year!
These were just a few reasons among many, if you have any other questions during this crazy time of big decision making just drop me a comment!
One of the best things about going to school at PC is the range of activities that there is to do in the city. I am so glad that I did not go to school out in the middle of nowhere, I absolutely love the city life!
Yesterday with my mentoring group, I took a trip to the Providence Children's Museum (which I didn't even know existed) where we got to explore for two hours with our mentees. Kenny and I had a blast, there was a water room, a giant light bright, tunnels, experiments and so much more! The water room was Kenny's favorite and he got me absolutely soaked, but it was all in fun. I felt like I was five years old again, it was great and I'm so glad that now I know about it! Here are some pictures from my trip ...

RELAY FOR LIFE PROVIDENCE COLLEGE STYLE was this past Friday night in Peterson and I got absolutely no sleep and spent the whole weekend catching up! The lack of sleep was definately worth it though, it was my first Relay experience and it was a blast. My friends and I formed a team ( 1 of 90 ) and took turns walking the track from 6pm-6am the next morning. About one fourth of our school participated!
Since PC started Relay For Life, this year was the biggest turn out in attendance and money raised which totaled just over $117,000 which is really immpressive! All through the evening different groups performed such as the Dance Team, Dance Company, various acapella groups on campus, Rejects on the Rise and there was even a Zumba class running at 4am! Overall the night was full of excitement and I definately ate way too many snacks, but hey I was up for almost 24 hours, ha! I will definately do it again next year, it was a great cause!

It feels like yesterday that March 1st was just rolling around and I went to write the date down in my Civ notebook and it is the 26th already! One more month and I am a sophomore, that is so scary...time flies!
In recent news, my Civ midterm was beyond stressful, it seems like there was a lot more material this 1st half of the semester than last, but it is over and done with, our second paper is coming up tomorrow! As far as applying for an RA, I got chosen as an alternate and so did my friend Annemarie which is fine, because now we have decided to room together. We are shooting for Aquinas so that we can live on the quad with all the other sophomores and stay on upper campus but that all depends on our lottery number..coming up soon!
Tonight my mom and sister are coming up to visit and to take me out to Olive Garden! That is one thing great plus about being close to home, your parents always want to come up and take you out to eat. I'm very much looking forward post to that!
RELAY FOR LIFE TOMORROW..I will definitely post about that with pictures this weekend!
Today on the PC campus all you see is sunshine as we begin to tackle the last half of the semester with midterms and exams galore! Unfortunately the luxury of Spring Break is over, but for me it was very relaxing and I got some homework accomplished too.
Now this week is back to reality, studying for my Civ midterm on Friday and preparing to write two papers the following week, no time to even breathe! Exciting news though! I am looking to be an RA next year and got called back for a second group interview on Saturday morning which I am really looking forward to! Also I will be applying to be an Admission Ambassador, which is the organization that runs info sessions and does day visits so hopefully that will work out as well! Only time will tell, until then enjoy the weather, tomorrow is supposed to be 60!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ROOMMATE JAIME & HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ALL!
