Cool Opportunities Thanks to Women's Studies
I have never done so much work for one class than I have for my Women's Studies Class. It is a class that I never imagined I would take, because well, I had never heard of it, but here I am, learning about how women have been depicted throughout history, in the media, etc.
Anyways moral of the story, during the semester we have to attend 3 Women's Studies Events and tonight I went to my last one. It was the showing of the HBO movie Iron Jawed Angels, featuring Hillary Swank as Alice Paul, the leading suffragist in the fight for women to vote. Now if I didn't have to go to these events, I probably would have never seen the video, but my Women's Studies Class persuaded me to go and I loved it. I found the movie very moving and it made me think that women would be silly not to vote after seeing that movie.
Basically I think what Providence College offers for outside the classroom learning is really neat. Events that departments hold such as the movie I watched tonight are really enlightening and allow you to relate your studies to the real world.
I have a monologue due tomorrow for this class and I have yet to memorize it yet, so off I go..Wish me luck!
P.S. If you leave me a comment, which I hope you do! Just know that I will answer any questions you have in the comment section - so you can find your answer there! Thanks!
