Relay for Life

It seems that these next few weeks are also going to be killer. But the next few weekends are looking fun. This Friday is the Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society. I didn't realize not many people knew what this was seeing as my high school held one every year. It's basically an overnight walk for cancer. Mine was held outside on the football field, but the one at PC is held inside the Peterson Center. There are games and things to keep us occupied all night, too. All money raised goes to research for a cure for cancer. It's definitely a great cause to get involved in here at PC!

The Killer Week

We all have those killer weeks every once in a while. And this is mine. Today was quite the busy day: two tutoring meetings, a tutoring appointment, civ study group, on top of classes and time spent at the library doing work for tomorrow. I have two papers due Monday and I also need to make time for a registration appointment with my advisor. It's weeks like these that are stressful, but the weeks after them just seem that much better!

I'm off to study!

Back in Action Once Again

And here we are, back from another break...and it seems like we just got back! Not that I'm complaining; it's nice to have a small Easter break to spend at home with family. Plus, a lot of people are on their own Spring Breaks right now. Break was relaxing and I got a ton of work done, so all in all I'm happy!

But now that I'm back, I have infinite amounts of work to do. Papers, exams, long readings...it's never ending. I'm just pulling for the end of the semester at this point -- and we've got a long month ahead of us with no breaks at all!

I've also heard that a bunch of my friends from home got acceptance letters from PC recently, so congratulations to all those that got accepted, here and elsewhere!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

There has been a lot of confusion about St. Patrick's Day this year, oddly enough. Some people say it was switched to Saturday (But that was Saint Joseph's Day) and others to Friday (and you could've eaten corn beef and cabbage as long as you repented later?) because today is part of Holy Week, during which there cannot be a feasts day. Hm. Well for all of you Irish out there, Happy St. Patrick's Weekend!

Irish Fest in McPhail's was fun, though I didn't stay for too long. There was a band and PC's Irish step dancers, as well as snacks. I made another trip to McPhail's on Saturday for my friend Rich's MS fundraiser -- Music and Movies for a Cure. We Watched Anchorman and The Departed, and Triple Point played again. I won a raffle, which was fun and exciting.

And today was housing! Perhaps the most stressful time of the year, I'd say. But ours went pretty smoothly as we had a good time of 9:32 am. Housing is a lottery and you all get a time card. Your group goes at the earliest time and you pick a room. Suites and apartments are separate and you have to apply for them. Next year I'll be living on the first floor of Aquinas and I couldn't be more excited!

Now I'm off to do some work, though not too much. Only a 3 day week and then it's Easter break!

The Birthday Blog

Sorry for missing a blog this week, but it's been so busy!

Let's start with the weekend: Friday was Freshman Snowball and it was so much fun! I got to re-wear my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding and it was fun just dancing around with friends. On Saturday, I went out to dinner at Uno's in the mall for my birthday with some friends and then watched a movie. A nice birthday celebration indeed. Sunday I went home for the day to see my family for birthday festivities.

Monday was Monday plus I had to study for my lit midterm which I took on Tuesday. I actually think I did quite well.

And now here we are at Wednesday and it's my 19th birthday! I know a few other people here and from home with this birthday, so the day should be filled with birthday fun! My special plans include a trip to Slavin for dinner and spending the evening with friends. Not too exciting, but I don't make much of a fuss these days. But now I must be off to finish my reading and to wait for the email with decisions about suites and apartments for next year!

Back in the Good Old US of A

So it took a while, but I finally made it back to the states!

London and Paris were absolutely amazing and I met so many great people and made so many wonderful friends. Honestly, the Honors Program trips should be seriously taken into consideration if you have been accepted into the program at PC. I am so thankful for the opportunity. I'd love to tell you all more about it in detail, but we just saw and did so much!

The only downside to the trip was getting stranded in London on the way back! One half of the group had a connecting flight from Paris to Newark to Boston and I was in the group that had a connecting flight from Paris to London to Boston. We get into the airport in London and they tell us our flight was canceled! So we spent the night in an airport hotel and got on a flight a full 24 hours later. Classes were missed on Monday, but I guess it could've been worse.

And now I'm back in action here at PC with so much to do! I have papers, meetings, the freshman Snowball, my birthday, midterms...it's going to be a busy tail end of the semester!
