Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

There has been a lot of confusion about St. Patrick's Day this year, oddly enough. Some people say it was switched to Saturday (But that was Saint Joseph's Day) and others to Friday (and you could've eaten corn beef and cabbage as long as you repented later?) because today is part of Holy Week, during which there cannot be a feasts day. Hm. Well for all of you Irish out there, Happy St. Patrick's Weekend!

Irish Fest in McPhail's was fun, though I didn't stay for too long. There was a band and PC's Irish step dancers, as well as snacks. I made another trip to McPhail's on Saturday for my friend Rich's MS fundraiser -- Music and Movies for a Cure. We Watched Anchorman and The Departed, and Triple Point played again. I won a raffle, which was fun and exciting.

And today was housing! Perhaps the most stressful time of the year, I'd say. But ours went pretty smoothly as we had a good time of 9:32 am. Housing is a lottery and you all get a time card. Your group goes at the earliest time and you pick a room. Suites and apartments are separate and you have to apply for them. Next year I'll be living on the first floor of Aquinas and I couldn't be more excited!

Now I'm off to do some work, though not too much. Only a 3 day week and then it's Easter break!

Hi I've been reading some of the admission blogs for a while now. Thanks for updating. Just a question--What books have you been reading/writing about as an English major?
Thanks,
Anna

Anna,

Thanks for reading the blog! So far as an English major, I've taken intro to lit and am currently enrolled in post colonial theory and lit. Intro gives a much wider selection of reading, from books to plays to poetry. For example, we read Proof, a play, The Awakening, a novel, The Crying of Lot 49, a novel, numerous poetry, and short stories by Flannery O'Connor. Postcolonial is a much more specific class focused on literature from a specific time period. We have read novels such as Purple Hibiscus, Lucy, and Lonely Londoners. We've also read a selection of short stories such as Girls at War and The Cricket Match. I'm not sure what's on the agenda for next semester, but hopefully something along the lines of Brit lit. Any more questions, feel free to post another comment or email me directly!
