sorry it's been awhile!

wow, things have been hectic lately! graduation is going to be here in a few short weeks. on top of school, work and trying to have a social life, I've been looking to find a job. I haven't had much luck...one of these days I need to go visit RMU's Career Center for some advice.

I did want to post about a trip I was on last weekend though. for the past 2 years I've been an officer with RMU's American Marketing Association. we work hard through the year to make our chapter better and then at the end of the year we get to attend the conference in New Orleans! it was an awesome opportunity to meet people from around the country and do some sight seeing. New Orleans is a beautiful city, I absolutely love it down there. as a part of the conference, we entered a few different competitions and ended up winning 3 awards!

that is all of us officers with our awards. it was a great trip and a great example of the awesome opportunities you have while in college.

hopefully I will post once more before graduation!

Super Bowl Champs!

The past few weeks school has been manageable and I've had some time for fun :)
Friday before the Super Bowl was a fun day on campus because everyone had their black and gold on. Down in the food court they were giving away free black and gold smiley cookies! Tuesday was the victory parade downtown so my roommate and I headed down (along with about 350,000 other fans) to celebrate.

It was a lot of fun, even if I did have to literally run once we got back on campus to make it to class!

Friday night I went downtown to the Penguins game. the previous Friday (Jan 30) RMU had a "100 Days to Graduation" celebration for us seniors. I went up and had a good time with some of my classmates, President Del'Omo and our Dean of Students. They also had a Super Bowl poll and I ended up winning Pens tickets! So Friday I went down and got to see them beat the Blue Jackets.

So lots of fun stuff going on! I've also been looking at job openings online. So far I'm struggling a little bit so I think I'm going to stop by RMU's Career Center this week to get pointed in the right direction. I'm glad the school offers assistance to us as we head out into the real world because I feel a little lost! Junior and senior year of high school can be the same way so if anyone has any questions, give RMU Admissions a call or leave me a comment. I'd love to be able to help!

cold!

It's back to RMU for my final semester and cold weather is here to greet us. I heard from one of the local news stations that it's the coldest it's been in Pittsburgh in like 15 years. I'm not a huge fan of winter although I can sometimes tolerate snow but this cold is too much! The campus is really pretty with the snow though...I took this picture yesterday morning on the way to work.

The first week of classes went pretty well. I only have 3 classes this semester and an internship so I'm hoping to have a great last semester. Wednesday my friend Jenna and I went to Mellon Arena for the Pens vs. Capitals game. They lost, unfortunately, but we still had a good time. It was a nice way to break up the week. It was a good week but it was nice to have something fun in the middle.

It's really hard to believe that I'm so close to being done. The past few years have flown by...there have been a lot of great times. Working in Admissions helps me remember what it was like to do the whole college search though when I'm giving tours to prospective students. All I can suggest is that you have to find what is right for you. I liked RMU because of its great reputation and I just felt at home here. If you are interested in RMU and haven't been to the campus I definitely suggest that you schedule a tour. The atmosphere of a school can completely change your opinion of it.

Any questions, comment on my blog!

my last semester!

My last few days of "freedom" are coming to an end as the spring semester approaches. I've had a great Christmas break at home. I've spent a lot of time with family and friends and had a great holiday season. I wrapped up my first internship about 3 weeks ago and turned in my portfolio. it was a really great experience and I'm really glad I did it.

Speaking of internships, I started my new one today. I did training and got to know the people I will be working with. I'm really excited for it...I'm not really sure what I want to do after graduation but I like the sounds of what I'll be doing as an intern this semester so I'm hoping maybe it will point me in the right direction. Graduation is going to be here before I know it. I've had a great break but I'm looking forward to heading back to RMU to see how everyone's break was and get back into a routine. I'm hoping to have a little bit more free time this semester because I have one less class than I usually do. So hopefully I'll have more time for fun and then more to update about! :)

School definitely has slowed down now that midterms are over, thank goodness. I've been kinda sick on-and-off so I haven't done anything too exciting. I did go to the Halloween dance...I went a little early to help set up and it ended up looking great. there was a pretty good turn out and there were some really creative costumes. I didn't stick around all night but it was pretty fun.

since I don't really have much to update on, I figured I would take a step back and answer a general question that I know I had when considering what college to go to.

I came to Robert Morris University for a lot of different reasons. one is the campus' location...we are close enough to Pittsburgh that if you're looking for something to do, there is a major city only 20 minutes away. I also like that we aren't downtown, though...I like seeing grass and leaves and our friendly groundhogs :) I also knew that the school has a great reputation which made me want to come here. I was convinced that this was the school for me, though, when I came to visit the school and took a campus tour. I really like the close-knit atmosphere that the campus has...it just felt like a good fit for me.

if anyone has any questions now or along the way, feel free to comment and I will get back to you!

Midterms already?

I can't believe midterms are already over. That means I only have a semester and a half left until graduation! And hopefully midterms ending will also mean that things will slow down a little bit now.

So far the semester has been hectic but good. I have lots of group projects and student organization meetings...just when I think I have a free moment to sit and relax, something pops up. I do get tired from time to time but life is more interesting this way.

I've had a couple of great experiences so far this semester. The first happened a few weeks ago...I will make a separate post about that soon (when I have more time...I have some pictures I want to include). The second happened this past weekend when the National Society of Collegiate Scholars volunteered for Project Bundle Up. It's a great program that provides money for underpriviledged children to buy winter coats, gloves, boots, etc. There were 16 of us that went and although it was an early morning (we had to be there at 7:15) it was definitely worth getting out of bed for. I was partnered with a little boy named Kevin who had more energy than any other 6-year-old I've met. He was a sweetheart and I was happy to help him stay warm this winter! I definitely hope I can help with this program again in the future...if you are interested in learning more about it or donating, here's a link: http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/station/1003400/detail.html

Tomorrow night is the Halloween dance on campus...I'm pretty anxious to see everyone's costume. I'm not sure what I'm going to wear...I might take the easy way out and just throw on a pair of cat ears or something. Hopefully next time I post I will have lots of pictures!
