I love this show in AIC. These paintings are so American. Edward Hopper (1882–1967) is one of the most enduring and popular American realists of the 20th century. His paintings have been celebrated as a part of the very grain and texture of the American experience. There are approximately 80 works of oil and watercolor, together with literature and history of the artist’s, will show Hopper’s place in the tradition of American realism and modernism.

The weather has been very bad recently. It is wet every where, snow is hurting your face and wind is chasing you. I think this time is the worst one we supposely will have for this winter. Just in case, for the people who come to Chicago- Be aware of the worst weather that you could possibly imagine. You might even need a snow goggle to walk on the street. (My friend has done that and it was funny)

buckingham fountain area is quite nice at night. It gets very quiet at night and you get to see bunnies and geese. There is a work of Richard Serra (you can see Buckingham fountain through his sculpture. Personally, I really appreciate his work. I think his works are awesome. people really should go and EXPERIENCE it rather than seeing it.

my wood project

haha past fall 07 semester has been very busy ^0^
I wasn't sure if this wood project will turn out as well as I expected but I really wanted to start. however, I didn't have much experience and didn't have enough resources.
Brian, who's manager at the wood shop, helped me very very much to do this project. In order for me to finish this, I still have a lot to do. it took me long time to do this wood project. With out Brian's help I wasn't able to pull off this project ^^
I think the School of the Art Institute is great school with great opportunities and where u can get many updated resources from. course when u seek for it!!!
Try to listen carefully what i seek for and search & plan out how i can get it.
I am not certain about many stuff Being gray and all.... ambitious but time to times very lazy... lose from the self- fighting....
while in school, I am trying to move towards better direction.... ^0^

japan study trip

I had study trip this year summer.
I went to Japan for study trip. It was about 20 days, although I stayed a little more than other people.

this time, I like to talk more about how to go study trip and credits, and next time, I will talk about my study trip experience with my photos..hahaha..

well... before you go to study trip, you will wonder what study trip is offer from school, how much it would be and stuff..

so there will be info session before registration. During semester, school will announce what study trip will be there on coming up break, and post the date of info session. So I marked the date of study trip info session that I wanted to go- which was japan, and I attended. From that info session, I learn about our itinerary, and how much money I should consider.

on the day of study trip registration, I register japan trip. But here is a trick. normally some of study trip is very very popular between people, and there is no way you can register online, so register day will be crazy!!! like concert of popular singer....(I just thought about H.O. T. even thou I never been, I saw on tv!!) anyway.. so even thou the registration starts at 8, I showed up around 6. this is the hour even before school building opens. when it opens, I went to registration, and I waited another hour. around 30 min before registration time people start showing up and make long long line~~ haha~ I am the winner!

But one thing you have to consider is your time of registration.
if you are senior, you can do your registration from 8. But if you are freshmen, time is different. its is seniority. so aware of this.

At my turn, I registered for 6 credit. What is this mean???
it means, I can register either 3 or 6 credit at one time of study trip. this time I applied for humanity, and history. However, it is not always history, or humanity. some of them provide studio, or some other credits. And you many not apply for 6 credit of one kind. like 6 credit of history from japan trip. because , to get the credit, you do the essays or project that given.
so I registered 6 credit. however I wanted to drop one of the credit, because I realize I might not able to finish my projects all on time. So I went to Mr. Norman, who is director of offcampus study. I cannot drop credit on my own, even thou I have enough time till study trip. I need signature from him.

Oh by the way, when you register you have to make down payment, I cannot remember how much it was, I think it was around $400.00 and this is not refundable. and if you dropping the study trip itself, you may not get those money back.

Exhibition from class.

At our school. students are required to take 18 credits of history classes.
I took, 6 credits of first year requirement of art history- ancient, modern.
Than I took Chinese art, Art and Design between World War, 20th Century Fashion, Japan Study trip.

Well... about study trip i will talk about from next time....

But anway.. and one of my history class, as final, we did exhibition. But we had choice of not do do it. But if you don't do it, you had to do the presentation about a designer of that time. Oh this was the 20th century fashion class, taught by Gillion.

Well.. I decided to do the exhibition, because it is certainly good to have a experience of curate the exhibition as an art student.

at this exhibition i learn how to curate the exhibition and necessary things to know when you curate an exhibition.
During this exhibition, my job was get the lights and sounds that will give the most effective affects for this exhibition.
our theme was future fashion in order to survive from harsh environment.

we got all the works from out side of class. we let people know that we are planing to have a exhibition, and whoever has a work that is relate to this exhibition and willing to
participate to this exhibition to submit the works to us.

Than we selected art works that related to us. Than our set up team figured out where to exhibit. and my team and I figure out how to light them with out distracting other works and show the best look of the work.

From this process I learn this is not an easy work. in order to show the works individually well, we need to think where to put what and how we light.
Since after this, whenever look at exhibition, I look at how they do the lighting and how they set up.
I think if there is any one interested about exhibition working, this might be a good class for them,

Here, use to be my room 162 N. State St. It is a triple room. You can see how unorganized my room was because of the fact that the picture was taken during the final (my roommate still played video game with his friend anyways). My room wasn't like that always. The point is, living in the dorm gives you opportunity to make some friends. I was so blessed that I got this precious roommate named Hyun. In fact, I call him Sweetheart and he calls me Sunshine.(We are just good friends not more than that.) Aren't we just cute little friends?..yes.

Chicago is beautiful at night. The busy streets become very quiet when it gets dark (weird to see how the city changes its atmosphere so quickly). It is nice to have some quite time but there's nothing to do because most of the stores close after 6.
