My Alarm Clock

My schedule is structured in such a way that I have to wake up at 8:00am everyday except for Saturday. I understand that I am the one responsible for my schedule and that it is no one's fault but my own. However, it is not that fact that I have to get up everyday at 8:00am that bothers me rather it is the means by which I wake up. I have a TIMEX alarm clock. It is the 2002 Banshee model. M-W.com defines a Banshee as, "a female spirit in Gaelic folklore whose appearance or wailing warns a family that one of them will soon die". Everyday when my alarm clock goes off a piece of my immaterial being is destroyed. One day I hope to be able to afford an ihome so that I can wake up to the incrementally increasing volume of Harry and the Potters or Flight of the Conchords. Unfortunately I think that my alarm clock will still be running my world for awhile. For more information on the way sound affects people I suggest reading The Language of Music by Deryck Cooke.

Until Later
