Expelling the Myths of Studying Aboard

So I just got back from my semester in Italy and thought after living this experience I would expel many of the misconceptions about Studying Aboard.

1.) I can’t afford to Study Aboard.

Yes, the truth is that depending on where you chose to study abroad it can be pretty pricey. It depends on a few factors mainly your lifestyle, travel plans while aboard, and the exchange rate. If you’re planning on going, start saving in advance and now there are many scholarship available for students seeking to finance a studying aboard opportunity.

2.) I don’t want to waste a whole semester.

Studying aboard is never a waste of a semester, but if you don’t want to study for a whole semester you can always go for a six week study abroad summer sessions.

3.) I won’t know anybody.

Yes, you wont, that’s the good part you get to meet some real cool people that will enhance your experience dramatically (in a good dramatic way...lol) Who knows maybe you can drag one of you friends abroad with you to experience a new culture together like I did. My girlfriend who attends Temple wanted to have a study abroad experience as well so we chose to go together. So there you have it, it takes a little planning that’s all.

4.) I don’t speak any foreign languages.

No, but you can learn by taking a class or you can go to an English speaking culture to study abroad.

5.) You have to have a good reason on why you want to study abroad.

No…..you can just want to go away and experience something new. Let me tell you it will open your eyes and it will definitely enhance your higher education learning experience. Or you can want to go and experience a culture that is part of your family history or just your studies. Really it doesn’t matter why it just matters that! That you make up your mind that you want to take advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity to make your classroom become much bigger than just a classroom with a blackboard and projector screen.

So now you don’t have any excuse on why you cannot study abroad. What are you waiting for go book you ticket! Don’t forget to get a student discount.

Until Next time…

Talk to you soon,
