I can see the finish line

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all remaining sane and getting ready for dead week. Let's start with Thursday of last week. ISP El Salvador 2008 had a reunion at one of the chaperone's house. It was really nice to get to see everyone. Do not get me wrong, I will see a few of them here and there but never as a group. We pretty much just had dinner, talked, and caught everyone up with the happenings of our lives. Tom's place is just a few blocks away from campus but it felt good to be outside of my apartment.

On Friday, the education majors had their annual get together. We had a great time taking Scranton by storm. Just like on Thursday, it was nice to see my educ friends which I have not seen in awhile because of student teaching. One of my favorite professors came out as well. It was a long night but so worth.

On Sunday, I woke up and got ready for my 6 mile hike at Richetts Glen State Park which is located about 45 minutes away from campus. This was a spirituality retreat and a great opportunity for new scenery and to enjoy nature. I'm not going to lie, there were some parts of the hike where I was just like "o no take me home" but I stuck it through and was grateful for such an experience. We saw so many waterfalls, it was amazing. Let me find out the city girl has turned into an outdoorsy kind of girl. I highly doubt it lol!

All good things must come to an end and today was my last day at North Pocono Middle School. My kids are so good. I was lied to all morning. I won't get into details but they did surprise me with flowers, an L.L. Bean travel tote with my initials, and lovely momentos. And no I DID NOT CRY. I'm not going to lie at one point I could have but I didn't. We enjoyed taking pictures while talking about my time there. I took a picture with each homeroom and I also wrote them a poem. O my Diamond students how much I am going to miss thee!!!

Coming to an End

Now that we are in May, the countdown begins. There is less than a month till graduation and only a week left of student teaching. My students have already started to remind me of the fact that I am leaving. It is definitely going to be bitter sweet, but one thing for certain, I WILL NOT CRY. So definitely stay toon next week to see if I made it.

Last weekend, I went home to dress shop for formal. I did not realize how difficult it was going to be. It took me forever to finally find a dress. I was ready to give up but I found it at the last store I was going to look in. I am still trying to figure out what color my dress is but according to my BFF, it is a mixture of salmon and fuschia. Leave it to her to figure it out. The dress is really simple, form fitting, and I like it. I better like it after all the hassle to find it. While at home I also went to dinner with a friend and had a good time. On Sunday I had another busy day. I was running around doing last minute errands and dropping off graduation invitation cards. Next thing you know, it was time for me to come back. That is one thing that I highly dislike about being home; it is never relaxing, I am always busy.

While at home, I also got some good news from a fellow education major. My friend and student teaching partner got the Fulbright to Macau!!! I am so excited for her. She is our only Fulbrighter this year, myself and Meghan are Alternates. She'll be leaving in August and just in case you do not know where Macau is, check out Patty's blog.

Today the Education Department hosted a dinner for student teachers and their co-ops. We had a great time. Mrs. Durkin actually stopped by my apartment for a little while. I thought that was a nice gesture. I am definitely going to miss her when I leave. We talked, ate, and laughed about our experiences. The rest of this week is going to be very eventful so I have a lot to talk about next week.
