My Interesting Day at Moses Taylor Hospital

Hi everyone! So, I have a very interesting story to talk about.. its quite odd and your probably going to laugh when you first read it but today was really scary and probably one of the craziest days of my life.

This morning I had my HUGE Human Resources training session at Moses Taylor Hospital today. I haven't been able to sleep much because I was so scared and nervous for it. I wake up at 6:00, get ready to go, and my group member came to pick me up. This is where it gets interesting. My group member doesn't have the latest car and it wasn't like the best car ever so it was pretty bad (you couldn't even open some doors). So we go to pick up my other group member and since the car was so packed with our stuff, we all had to sit in the front. Luckily the car has two seats in the front so someone can sit in the middle and in the passenger side. Once we picked up my other group member we stopped at a stop sign and long behold. We were turning onto Taylor Ave, and the next thing I know is that once as we are turning I slide into the door... I knock the door open and go flying out into the street. So basically I fell out of the car as it was driving. How crazy is that? I am really lucky that I didn't get seriously hurt because I did a Judo tumble fall as I fell out of the car. I'm glad my instincts came in as I fell out and I didn't land on my head, but I hit my nose pretty bad that it ended up bleeding. Don't worry I'm ok though! All I got was a few scratches on my leg and an internal bruise on my nose.

So we get to Moses Taylor, the nurses helped me clean my wounds up (which was very nice) and we did our presentation. Let me just say.. this group was a tough crowd. There was over 30 people there and they seemed so unhappy and so uninterested in this presentation, but whatever. We know they have busy schedules and I kept a smiling face but I was just pretty upset what happened and I wanted the staff to have a good time too. I looked at some of the feedback we got from them and some of them were very harsh and very rude. I guess that's what happens when you try to train a staff of nurses, PTs, and OTs. A lot of the staff said we did a very good job and were pleased from it, but a lot of them were plain rude.. so I'm pretty disappointed.. but I'm glad its over.

Right after the session my professor took me to the Wellness Center and by that point I was feeling really sick and had a horrible headache. I kinda was going out of focus and couldn't concentrate so the nurse told me to go back to Moses Taylor to get checked out. Ten minutes later I am back at Moses Taylor, this time at the ER and I got a CT scan and everything is good! I have a headache right now.. but I think I will be ok for the most part. I'm still pretty shocked over today's events and I'm still trying to figure out how everything happened. My day was hectic but I'm glad its over.

Make sure to stay warm for it is starting to become really really cold out. I'm counting the days til my departure to Singapore! Have a good week everyone and BUCKLE UP!

Crew Regattas and Study Abroad

This weekend and the past few days have been so much fun and eventful that I have to share it with all of you.

This past weekend I was in Philly for our last crew regattas of the season and it was so much fun, very cold, and rainy (just on Saturday!). So we went down for the Frostbite and Bill Braxton regattas and overall we did really well! The first race on Saturday was really funny because we were short one girl and we didn't have another girl to be in the 4-man so we had to get one of the guys on the guy's team to row with us. It was absolutely hilarious because every boat was staring at us and asked us why there was a guy in a girl's 4 man boat. Unfortunately we weren't able to medal in the race but we were still allowed to row! The second race on Sunday was also went really well and we didn't need to have a guy in our boat this time. Overall we did really well and I am so proud of the boys team for doing an amazing job (they made the finals in their varsity 8!), the varsity 8 girls, the novice 8 girls, and the 4 man I am in. If you decide to come to the University join crew!!!!!!!! I highly recommend it.Below is a picture of one of the 8 man boats (ours is the one in front of the yellow boat!)

So, besides the regattas this weekend I have some great news to tell everyone. I applied to go study abroad next semester at the National University of Singapore. If you don't know much about this university, it is one of the best universities in Asia and in the world. I applied a couple of months ago and when I talked to some of the admissions people there, they said my chances of getting in were very slim just because the exchange program was very competitive. So I applied and took a shot at it just to see what could possibly happen and guess what? I GOT ACCEPTED!! I can't believe it either. I'm really happy I got accepted for next semester, but I have to wait to get my package in the mail and see what classes they are offering me because that all depends on me going. There are classes that I must take next semester just because my schedule for my senior year has to be planned out carefully. I am so excited and I really hope I get the classes I need so I can go. My cousin lives in Singapore and my family is only a 3 hour plane ride away in Thailand. If I go, I get to see my entire family, go to my cousins wedding in April, and get a great educational experience. Lets hope it all works out!

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog this week! Make sure to bundle up and prepare those rain boots because its suppose to rain and be freezing cold!

So much to do, so little time

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a good week! I am definitely having a good week, but it is really really long!! I have so much stuff to do and so little time to do it! Its going quickly that I can't believe it is already November! Crazy right? Soon enough we will all be going home for Thanksgiving break, the week we get back is dead week (that's the week before finals!), then finals week, then Winter Break. This semester is flying by and I can't believe it. PERIOD!

So, this past weekend was fun and it was Halloween! Not one of my favorite holidays but it was a lot of fun because me and roommates baked cupcakes and one of my roommates Kim, decked out our living room with all of this Halloween stuff. It was so cute and made me warm up to the Halloween spirit. We also had a huge bucketful of candy which was so deadly because I am trying to cut out candy from my diet! Also, I was suppose to go to a crew regatta at New Rochelle, NY and unfortunately some things came up that we weren't able to (tear). This weekend should be fun though because we are going back down to Philly for the Frostbite/Bill Braxton regattas (two day regattas).

Those who are prospective students reading this I have some news. We have our Open House this Sunday on November 9th so sign up if you haven't already and visit our campus! I am encouraging you to come to the Open House to see the University of Scranton and see what our University offers. I would be working at the Open House (I am a Royal Ambassador and Tour Guide) as a platform speaker, but I will be down in Philly this weekend. If you are unable to make the Open House, sign up for our regular tours that go on from Monday to Saturday! I give tours out on Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon so sign up!! I highly recommend it and it would be fun to see those who are reading my blog!

Have a good week everyone and leave comments to let me know what you think. I love comments!
