Coming to Leo...
Hey!
My name is Devan. But most people call me Dj. I prefer Dj. I’m a freshman here at Saint Leo University (SLU). When I got my acceptance letter, I can remember calling my admissions counselor and tell her I got in. Even though she already knew, I wanted to thank her for getting me in. When summer orientation came, I was excited. Acting like a “true” freshman, I got new clothes, shoes, and a fresh fade. The day arrived, and I drove down here. I wanted to be the first freshman on campus. I met everyone during our “Invitation to Orientation.” I was running for freshman vice president, so I made it my job to get to know everyone. After our meetings, we had a party at club Leo. Club Leo is where a lot of people, freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors come to dance. Even some of the Fraternities do their strolls and steps.
During the transition from summer to college, I was a nervous wreck. I was so excited to leave my home, my job and my stress from high school, but I didn’t want to leave my friends and family. School started on the 25th of August. I arrived on the 23rd. I wanted to get the best of everything, and I wanted to make fun of the people who were struggling to get their stuff in on the 25. My parents helped me move in of course. After I got moved in, and my parents left, I went downstairs and introduced myself to everyone. At SLU we have the best RAs. RAs or Resident Assistants are college students who monitor the dorm that you stay in. If you have a problem, see them about it. Student Chaplains are like counselors. If you have a serious problem, talk to them and they will try and help with the situation.
The transfer from your last summer is hard, but here at SLU, the staff makes it a lot easier to deal with. If you have any question, don’t be afraid to ask.
