The days are dwindling down...(Thank God!!), I go home in 9 days and I CANNOT WAIT!! Because I am in the 3-year program, we have our finals this week and then integration starts on Friday. This one is the best one because it is the last one! Next year as a senior, we work with a real company rather than answering fake problems that a company may face.

Things have been extremely exciting here on campus over the past month or so. There are many different activities going on to keep students busy, on top of finishing projects and studying for finals! Two and a half weeks ago, Third Eye Blind and State Radio were on campus for our big concert of the year sponsored by CAPE. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the concert because I was in New York City on a field trip with the Economics and Finance Association. During the three days that I was there, I walked into Donny Osmond. When I told people here on campus, they either didn't know who he was or told me that I was a lunatic. I SWEAR THAT I SAW HIM. ASK JILL LANDERHOLM!!

Work in the athletic department has been busy as well. We have had many baseball, softball, women's and men's lacrosse games going on and the women's lacrosse team has made it to the finals!! This past Monday, I worked at our Athletic Awards banquet and I have to say that I was very impressed. All of our athletes looked very classy and some very deserving people got some great awards. My roommate Casey was nominated for the Female Sportsmanship award, but unfortunately she didn't get it (sad face). My job as a tour guide in admissions has also been busy as many prospective students have been coming to visit our campus. We are having our end-of-the-year banquet at Jillian's in Manchester tomorrow night, which I am very much looking forward to!

One of the big struggles about going home at the end of a semester and having bills to pay is trying to find a job that will pay for them. Some of my recent tasks have included applying to jobs back home in Maine and trying to interview for them from New Hampshire. One thing I didn't realize was how hard it was to find a job in your area of study before you graduate; many companies are looking for post-graduates. I guess I could look on the bright side and say that I'm only one year away from graduating!!

Well I suppose that's it for now...this will probably be the last time I write this school year. I will try to keep all of you updated as the summer goes on and definitely when I get back to school in the fall!!

Happy Reading and Enjoy Your Summer Vacation!!

I honestly thought that it was never going to get here!! All of my friends have been going on their breaks and I had to wait until the END of March!!

The only thing I don't like about going on Spring Break is that everyone is always asking "So where are you going for break?" This year my answer was "Just home," and hopefully next year it will be "Austrailia!" A couple of my roommates are planning on studying abroad next spring which means that I can go visit when we go on break!! I have never been out of the country, so that would be so exciting if I got a chance to do that!

This year I am planning on coming home and working with my aunt and cousin at their daycare. My cousin just had her baby, Spencer, and she is on maternity leave until around the end of April so I told my aunt that I would help out. I'll have to include some pics of Spencer and my other new baby cousin because I am so excited that they are a part of our family.

Well, that is it for now. If you are reading this and you are also on Spring Break, enjoy it!! If you've already been on Spring Break and went somewhere nice, HAHAHAHAHA!!! (just kidding)

Happy Reading!!

So we are only a couple of weeks into the semester and it seems as though we are already getting things ready for next year!!

One of the biggest things that students on campus are gearing up for is housing selection for next year. My roommate, Casey, and I are going to be rooming with two other girls on the women's soccer team, Nicole Dupuis and Kristin Moore, and we are planning on living in either Lincoln or Conway which are the east side apartments. If we get into them, we would finally have a kitchen!! I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you normally eat cafeteria food all of the time, it's a HUGE deal!!

I've also been looking at internships and jobs for the summer because I really don't want to go back to Hannaford. I've been there for three years and I think that I could definitely use a change of scenery. I'm looking into UnumProvident and Liberty Mutual. I'm now not sure that I'm even wanting to sit behind and do paperwork all day...I've been thinking about wedding/event planning.

So I'm writing this blog at my job in the equipment room and one of the people I'm working with told me to write that I am so excited for intermural volleyball, which I am, but he is in charge of the whole thing so he would say that!!

Well I think that that's all for now...

So much has happened in the past week...so hopefully writing about it will get rid of a little bit of my frustrations!! Where do I begin...

Well let's start with the day that I moved in. My routine personality was frazzled when a new roommate had taken over what used to be completely mine!! Now maybe what you didn't know was that I had a double room completely to myself because we had only four people living in a six person unit. This allowed my other podmate, Casey, and I to have double rooms to ourselves. This changed for the spring semester when McKenzie moved in. So that has been an adjustment in itself.

Next, I had set my alarm on Wednesday morning for 9:00a.m. because I had class at 11:00a.m. I was woken up by a phone call at 7:45a.m. from one of my classmates asking what building we had one of our classes in. I answered his question but was quick to remind him that we had the 8:00 class he was asking about on Thursday mornings, not Wednesdays. He told me that it was on Wednesday mornings and when I checked my schedule, it sure was on WEDNESDAY mornings!! Thank goodness that I had my car parked right outside of my building because I put on sweatpants, threw some toothpaste in my mouth, and ran out the door...only to be less than 5 minutes late for my first class of the semester!! NOT BAD BUT NOT A GOOD START TO THE 2ND HALF OF MY YEAR!!

After almost missing my first class, things started to look better for me. I headed home on Friday night to spend the night with my boyfriend, Eric, and go to my sister's cheering competition on Saturday. For the second year in a row, they took 2ND PLACE and we couldn't have been happier for them!! This weekend was also going to get much better because when I got back to school, my roommates and I were headed to the Verizon Wireless Arena where we would be watching the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Manchester, NH that we participated in way back in October. They were showing it on the jumbo-tron and were having many other activities that were going on at the same time. After this is where things went down hill...

After watching the show and having a good time we were walking back to the car in the absolute freezing cold, joking about how funny it would be if my car had been towed because we were in such a rush to find a parking spot when we got there! Low and behold, IT WAS GONE!! To make a long story short, I had to pay $120 bucks cash to get my car back and drive it home that night...UGH!!!

Now things are going a little bit better...I'm going home in another week and a half for another cheering competition and can't wait!!

Well I suppose that it for now...it's enough to stress anyone out!!

So the new year is finally here; nothing feels any different though. Guess it's the same as every other new year!!

Anyway, things last semester went very well...grades were good, roommates were amazing. Unfortunately one of them left and decided to do online classes instead, :(...miss you already Caitlin!! On top of everything else that was good last semester, I got to do so many awesome things that I never thought I would be able to do. I met Danny and Johanna from Real World Austin at SNHU and my roommate, friends, and I helped out at the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Manchester which airs on January 27th. That was such an awesome experience!! We actually thought we weren't going to be able to get in because there were so many other people who wanted to help and the crew was behind so they were only using people that were skilled workers; if you didn't know how to frame a wall or sheetrock, you weren't going to be able to help. We made our way over to the site one night and waited for a couple of hours and they needed people to help move things into the house. My two roommates and I were standing behind the fence and quickly jumped over. What an amazing house and unbelievable crew that was working on site. That was something that I will never forget!!

This winter break has been absolutely wonderful!! I love being able to come home and do absolutely nothing!! I recently went to Sugarloaf mountain to spend the weekend skiing and whatnot, however some person on the face of this earth gave me strep throat and I was miserable for the whole weekend...:-(

Eric, my boyfriend, went back to school yesterday for RA training. He doesn't start classes for another week and a half, but he has to be there anyways. We didn't do much this vacation; we have both been pretty busy lately working and whatnot so we are planning to do things this summer. He wants to embark upon another camping trip in May and I want to go but if it's going to be just like it was last year, crappy weather and cold, YUCK, it's going to be POOPY!!

Well anyway, I suppose that if I keep talking I'm just going to be rambling so I will leave you with this for now. I'll be writing more once I get back to school in a couple of weeks!!

Wow! It is so hard to believe that I am already in my second year of college! I must say that it's a little bit awkward being here and not being a freshman with everyone older than you. I'm one of the older ones now!!

So move in was on Monday...I had everyone and their cousin here to help. I am living in the pods this year which on the East Side of campus. I have to say that living the the place that I'm in is definitely worth the extra 10 minutes that I need to walk to my classes. My roommates and I absolutely love our pod and are making it more and more like home everyday!!

Today is the first full day of classes and I was already off to a bad start. I thought I would get up early and actually do my hair this morning and then go to my meeting at 9:30a.m. Turns out that my meeting was actually tomorrow morning so I was forced to come sit in the cafeteria and relax until my class at 11 o'clock. When I realized that it had been a while since I had written something in my blog...this was the perfect time to fix that. So that's what I'm doing!

Well I suppose that's it for now! I'll keep you updated and let you know how classes and all are going throughout the semester!!!

So we have been on summer break now for almost 6 weeks and I feel like I haven't done anything productive with my time. I had taken two weeks off in the beginning to spend some time with the folks and run some errands before I started working my regular summer job. My boyfriend Eric and I and a few friends went camping on Sebago Lake in Maine. With neither of our parents there, we had to fend for ourselves and do everything ourselves. It was really weird at first but we got used to it eventually. We left on a Tuesday and came back on a Thursday. I don't think that we could have picked three worse days to go. It was so rainy and so cold we couldn't really do anything except sit in the tent and play CatchPhrase!

This is what our campsite looked like...it rained the whole second day that we were there and it was about 30 degrees the second night. It was so cold! As uncomfortable as it was though, I knew that I couldn't complain too much because there was no way I was coming back home until Eric was ready to come home.

This is Eric cooking the wild turkey that he has shot a couple weeks before we left. I told myself that I wasn't going to try it because I'm not a fan of eating wild things. I ended up trying it and liked it a lot.

The smoke was so bad from the fire. Just getting too close would cause your eyes to burn for a minute. Eric decided that his ski goggles would be helpful for the night!

Aww...so cute!!

So now I have been working at Hannaford for about a month! I've been there for two and a half years and it is definitely time for me to find a new job because I get so bored! I think I'm going to have to stick it out for this summer and look for something different next summer! UGH!! Oh well!

Well I suppose I should go get ready for work. I have to work until 9:30 tonight; not something that I am looking forward to!

As I'm sure that you are all aware, yesterday Virginia Tech went through a horrible tragedy; one that will be remembered in the history of the United States. For many of you who may be reading this and may not be directly affected by it, I advise you to think again.

Everyone in this country has not been affected by this horrific event. Whether or not you want to think about this, it could have been anyone in those classrooms. It didn't have to happen at Virginia Tech, it could have been at your school. I just hope that we can all learn something from this and know that it could happen to anyone.

To those students, families, faculty, staff, and anyone else related to those students who have lost their lives: I only wish that you knew how much support that you are receiving from the country. Everyone is truly saddened by your losses and we can only hope that this others will learn and not make the same mistakes that this young gentleman did.

So onto SNHU...

These past few days have been so exciting! The weather here has been beautiful and I was actually sun burned this past weekend after working at the lacrosse games!! Saturday night was girls night out for my friend and future roommate Casey Les' birthday!! As excited as I was for this weather to be here, it was surprisingly awkward to be wearing skirts and tank tops around campus.

These next couple weeks are going to be so hectic but it doesn't really matter because we are going home after this is all done!! According to my countdown there are 16 days until I am home for the summer!! Classes are finally starting to wind down; projects and papers and tests are all due before next Friday and then a week of finals. Because I am in the 3Year Program...our classes actually end next Wednesday and then we get Thursday off!! Friday begins the week of frustration and hard work. Instead of having final tests, we do something called integration. Basically you are put in a group of four or five and given a case study that you have to analyze and solve a certain problem based on the knowledge that you have gained from your classes in that semester. At the end of the week, (which for us is May 11) each group presents thier solution to the problem to their professors in a 25-35 minute formal presentation. It is a lot of work but in the end, it is completely worth it because you are able to apply what you have learned to a real life situation before you even enter the work force. And believe me, by the end of the week, you are ready to go HOME!!

Another fun part about going home for the summer is finding the ever so lovely part-time summer job. My whole plan was to stay at Hannaford as a cashier but lately I've been thinking that I should start to look in the business field for something to do. Last week I went on JobsinME.com and found a few good positions. When I had called to contact the employers about applying, they had all asked me if I had a resume put together. I wasn't going to lie to them so I said "No," and guess what the first words out of their mouths were? "Well you should probably get one!!" Great! Just another thing to try and get done before I go home. So needless to say this past week I have been going back and forth to the Career Development Center here on campus to put a resume together and I must say, I am impressed. I figured that they would just give me a samplel and say change your name and info and call it good! But they have been fixing all of my mistakes and giving me suggestions! I guess it's just another one of those extra things that I figured I would never use, but needed it in the long run!

Well I suppose that's it for now...I have a few things to catch up on around the room and homework... :( I'll will definetly write during integration and hopefully keep writing during the summer!

Happy Reading!!

      ...coming back to school!!

I just got back into my room and unpacked all of my crap that I'm going to pack up again in 5 weeks. It's so hard to believe that we are almost done our freshman year of college! It has gone by so FAST!!

So for those of you who have heard that spring break is the greatest part of being in college, let me forewarn you that only some of us can be lucky enough. First of all, the college budget didn't allow me to fly to some exotic island to soak up the sun. Second of all, I'm not sure that the 'rents would have allowed me to go anywhere just yet (they're still having a hard time with the whole growing up thing)! Also our spring break this year happened to be the week after all of my friends from back home were on break so I was able to go home and spend time with my parents and little sister.

Wanna hear about my week?? Well I haven't told anyone yet about it in detail so you'll be the first! Unfortunately, my stepmom's father passed away last week so I was going home to an extremely emotional house and a weekend of funeral services with people that I had no idea who they were. That took care of Friday night and Saturday morning. Saturday night I went with my boyfriend Eric's two little cousins. He hadn't been feeling well that night and didn't want to be there alone with the kids. Well he went home shivering that night and ended up going to the ER on Sunday morning only to find out that he had very bad conjunctivitis in both eyes and an upper respiratory viral infection. YUCK!! Being the caring person that I am, I wanted to stay at his house and take care of him, but his mom made me stay at home also to help prevent me getting it from him!! Let's just say I didn't listen very well.
Anyway, my sister was in school all week, so the house was mine, all mine!! During the day I kept things pretty low key, watching TV, sleeping, surfing the internet, sleeping, etc. After I picked my sister up from school, we went shopping one day, we spring cleaned her bedroom another day, and just kciked around the house for the rest of the week. On Friday, Eric and I went to my dad's job site in Brunswick, ME. He just finished building the Recital Hall for Bowdoin College. I had seen it over Winter Break but it was only halfway done. Within the next few weeks, it should be ready to turn over to the college and it looks B-E-A-UTIFUL!!

This is what the recital hall looked like in the mini model that the architects made. It obviously looks a little bit different in person now that it is actually completed.

This past weekend, Eric came home again (he goes to school at University of New England so he is only an hour from home) and we spent Friday night watching movies and Saturday washing our cars and eating Chinese food. Then last night around 10:00 I decided to go up to my room and pack to come back to school. It was so weird to think that the week had already gone by and I was coming back to school, and believe me it was not willingly.

Now, as I sit here thinking of things to write about in the blog I am searching for train tickets to go home for Easter next weekend. My mom told me that I was going home before I even asked her about it but I need to take the train into Portland so I can be home at a decent hour and not at 11 at night.

Well I suppose that's it for now...I should probably check to see if I have any homework for tomorrow. I should probably write another entry soon since I haven't written in a few weeks (oops!). Until then...happy reading!!

I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday. This week has been so hectic between classes, work, and trying to stay on top of everything.

So one of the things that I told myself before I came to college was that I didn't want to be one of those kids that was up until 3 in the morning finishing homework for the next day's classes. Let me tell you now, if you're thinking the same thing, I can guarantee that this won't be the case. I had a paper due for my marketing class on environmental factors due Friday morning by 11:00 A.M. and I thought that if I started around 6:00 P.M., I could finish by midnight. Boy was I wrong!! At 2:37 A.M., I finally sent the paper through Blackboard. HOLY COW! That was my first task of this busy week. With a snow day on Friday, I had a little bit of time to relax

Hi Everyone! As you probably have seen on my profile, I am a freshman here at Southern New Hampshire University. I am in the 3Year Honors Program and absolutely love it! Hopefully I will be able to help you decide whether or not SNHU is right for you!

I am from Wales, Maine; it is a very small town about 2 1/2 hours from Manchester (2 hours if my boyfriend is driving)! There is usually alot going on at home especially right now. My sister does cheerleading so I have been going home for the past few weekends to see her compete. I enjoy doing things like scrapbooking, making movies on my computer. I just wish that I had more hours in the day to get it all done!!

SNHU was a perfect fit for me! I was looking for a small campus with a great business school. Here on campus, I am active in CAPE, the Coordinators of Activites and Programming Events. We are in charge of planning concerts, magic acts, hypnotists, comedians, and other events around the campus. It is so much fun and you get to meet so many different kinds of people. Every once in a while I also help out the admissions office with prospective student chats and things just like this blog!

Well I suppose I should stop rambling...Next time I will include pics to help you get to know me a little bit better! I hope that this blog provides you all with lots of good information and I am anxious to continue writing. Catch ya later!!

-Allie

p.s. If you're wondering if you still get snow days in college, the answer is YES!! WE HAD ONE TODAY!!
