First Blog

Hello!

This is actually the first blog I have ever done, so it should be interesting to see where it goes. I'm writing now, before spring break comes, because I do not have internet access at home. Actually, before the beginning of this year, I didn't even have a computer in my home!

I live on campus, in Chocorua, but not on the wellness floor. That's the floor above mine. I moved in about a month after the beginning of first semester, after having some problems with my first roommate, which are no longer important, since my roommate now is an amazing person. And, since Monday was room selection, I went down to the gym and signed up for both of us for next year. We decided to stay in the same place, since it's almost in the middle of SNHU's campus, and really close to all of our classes. Nicole, my roommate, was a Creative Writing major, but has just recently switched to an English Major... but she's also looking to see if she can have a double major. I'm not sure if I want to do a double major also, or just go for one major and a bunch of minors. Either way, I have lots of free electives to use up, since, being in the Honors program, I can take seven classes (if I want to torture myself)(which I likely will).

This semester has been interesting so far. I have six classes, and I'm finally in a Creative Writing class, which is awesome! I had to wait a semester to take a class that actually has something to do with my major, but it was worth it, I think. I'm also in my first philosophy class, and it's extremely fun. I've always found philosophy amusing, but this is the first time I've ever actually learned about it. My FAS 202H class will be going to a concert in Boston soon, and we will see a performance of Gustav Mahler's First Symphony. It should be great, even if it is performed by a student orchestra. I'm looking forward to it, and so is the rest of the class. Plus, we're going for free, since it's a school-paid trip!

Also this year, I am in many clubs, and am an officer in two of them. I am the secretary of SNHU's Creative Writing club, which is an awesome club that everyone who loves writing should join! It's a great group of insanely creative people, and it's a lot of fun to be involved with the club. I have also just recently become co-President of SNHU's Book Club. My roommate Nicole is the other President. The first book we will read is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, which everyone who likes Sci Fi should read.

Last week, on Wednesday, I went to my first concert! It was Fleetwood Mac, and it was great! I went with Nicole, my boyfriend Ian, and my dad, who drove us all down. We sat in the nosebleed seats, but I liked it anyways. It was very interesting, because they changed some of their songs, while others they left the same. The lyrics of "Rhiannon" were very different from the ones I am used to hearing on the studio recording, and their live version of "Tusk" was also different, instrumentally. They even played one song which they had never performed live before! Also, Stevie Nicks told the audience, for the first time ever, what the meaning behind "Gypsy" was, which was cool. Apparently, when she becomes very stressed, she will take her mattress and put it on the floor, and set up a bunch of candles all around her and just think. At the beginning of the concert, Lindsey Buckingham told the audience that because they did not have a new album to promote, yet, that they were just going to have fun performing for us, and it looked like they did! If you have never listened to their music, you should. My favorites are "Rhiannon," "Gypsy," "Sara," "Tusk," and "The Chain," although all of their songs are awesome.

Gypsy- Fleetwood Mac, composed by Stevie Nicks

So I'm back, to the velvet underground
Back to the floor, that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy... that I was

And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
Well, lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
Ah, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

To the gypsy that remains
Faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love

She is dancing away from me now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And a memory is all that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes, bright eyes
(she was just a wish)
(she was just a wish)
And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

I should be able to find something more interesting to write about after spring break, which I am definitely looking forward to, if only because it will be the first time in weeks I've had a chance to write. I'm working on what I think will become a novel, but I haven't had many chances to add to it recently, since I spend most of my free time procrastinating on homework... mostly reading and playing on the internet. I do finish my work, but there isn't enough time left afterwards to write. So my goal is to add to my novel over vacation! I'll let you know how that goes.

And now, after procrastinating for an hour or so, goodbye until next time!
