A Short Break Right Around the Corner...

Thanksgiving break cannot come fast enough. I’m a little burnt out from working two jobs and school, and a break is much needed, even if it’s for a few days. I’m getting as much homework done as I can too, so I don’t have to spend my break doing it. I’m excited to see my friends from home – I haven’t seen them since school started and it’s always a good time with them =].

I love holidays because there’s always the best food, everyone is so happy to see each other, and it’s a break from school =]. All three of those are great things in my book. Thanksgiving especially has the best food. I’m kind of disappointed that my big extended family isn’t having it together this year, but I’m spending it with my boyfriend, so it will still be a good time. I’m totally excited for mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce – I could live on those two foods alone and be happy. I’m not really a dessert person, except for cheesecake. Pies and cakes aren’t really my thing, but cheesecake is amazing! I love raspberry cheesecake from The Olive Garden, but the dulce de leche cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory is to die for also.

So now that I got you and myself hungry and craving cheesecake and mashed potatoes (weird combination..) I’m going to grab dinner. Talk to you next time!

Getting Back Into It...

Hey all!!

I'm truly apologize for the long time it's been since I've last written, but I'm back at school for my second year and loving it!

Summer was alright - I just mostly worked. I went to the Dominican in June and it was soooo much fun - I want to go back sooo bad! We went on a snorkeling trip and zip-lining through the jungle. I could spend the rest of my life relaxing by a pool and be completely content with it. It was a great way to relax before my summer full of work. I nannied during the day and then worked at a restaurant during some nights. It was exhausting at some points but I kept telling myself it was worth the money, which it definitely was!

I still work at the restaurant Wednesday and Saturday nights, and I also got a job on-campus in the admissions office as a Penmen Tour Guide. It's so fun - the people who work in the office are so welcoming and easy to approach with any questions and I just love meeting new people (which happens almost everyday). I think it's the best office to work for on-campus - lots of connections and just an exciting atmosphere to be involved in. Open houses are hard to wake up for, but once you are out giving the tours and interacting with families, it's not so bad. Plus you get a free lunch =D.

So this semester, I'm taking mostly math courses - Statistics, Accounting, and Economics - along with Sociology and Business Law. Sociology is interesting and my professor for Business Law always has the best stories. I'm having a hard time with Statistics and Economics with all their theories and formulas - it's a lot to remember and keep up with. My Accounting professor is THE MAN and absolutely will not move on to another subject until every person in class understands that concepts of what we are learning. It really makes accounting sooo much easier to understand. I don't think this semester is too bad - it's definitely manageable. It's gone by fast though - a couple more weeks and it's Thanksgiving Break! It's much needed and it will be good to go home and see friends I haven't seen in a while.

Okay - time to start studying for Business Law. I hope you enjoyed catching up on my life at SNHU. I'll have more next time!

Almost at the End...

Sorry for taking a while to write again!! These past couple weeks have been sooooo hectic. It’s getting towards the end of the year, so everything seems to be piling up. Things have calmed down since a few assignments were due last week, but I still have a lot of work to do.

We have about two weeks of classes left (the rest of this week and all of next week) and then a week of what we 3Years call Integrating. The program is set up so that we take finals a week before the regular 4-year students and the time we have left in school is fully dedicated to a weeklong project. It sounds really intense, and in some ways it is, but we work in groups and present our project at the end of the week (May 8th this semester). We don’t find out our presentation topic until May 1st and it’s kept really top secret. Our professors like to tease us because they’re the ones who chose the topic, so they know it and we don’t. But the gist of this whole huge project is to incorporate EVERYTHING that we have learned over the past semester and apply it to the case we’re given. I like this a whole lot better than taking six tests that are usually all essay form. I tend to do better with projects than tests, and with presenting you can say whatever you need to in order to get your point across rather than hoping you pick the right letter on a multiple choice, and your hand doesn’t hurt from writing. I gave presentations like this in high school DECA (a marketing club – sounds kind of boring I know but it’s really not) so I fell really comfortable when this time comes.

Last semester’s Integrating Experience was really good and I think I lucked out with it being my first time ever doing one. My group was awesome and we worked really, really well together. We split up everything equally and we just really meshed well together. Our topic was finding a new market for a fictional yogurt company. The case they handed us had everything we needed and I feel like it wasn’t too, too hard, but really time consuming considering it did take a week to complete.

So we find out our topic next Friday and I’m kind of dorkishly excited =]. I have to write my history paper now – until next time!

most stressful week ever!!

So sorry for not posting in a while - I had probably the most stressful week ever.
Let's start with Monday, when my friend and I got in a car accident =[. We are both okay and not hurt too badly, even though we both did get transported to the hospital. I know that sounds horrible, but we both had minor injuries and were released that night. It just stinks now that I don’t have a car on campus to just come and go as I please. I feel bad relying on others to bring me where I need to go, even though I know they don’t mind.

Because I was feeling extremely sore the next day I missed classes - which is something I hate doing. I know it sounds dorky, but I always feel so behind if I do miss class, so I try not to do it if I don't have to. Luckily, I only have two classes on Tuesdays so I didn't miss too many things.

Since I only have one class on Wednesdays, I usually do as much work as I can. Since I had a lot of assignments with due dates coming closer, I legitimately spent the ENTIRE day working on homework and assignments.

That continued into Thursday where I had until 4:45 then dance until 8:30 and then spent the rest of the night doing more homework.

Finally Friday came and I finished as much as I could during so that I wouldn’t have much to do over the weekend.

In total, I had a debate for English, a case study for Management, and a paper and presentation for Media/PR. That may not sound a lot of work, but when you take all research and preparation into consideration, it’s a lot of work to do in just a couple of days – not to mention other commitments I am obligated to. This week seems to be pretty slow with only a reflection paper due on Thursday, which shouldn’t take long at all.

Now that I feel better after venting, I’m going to go look for a new car =]. Thanks for listening – talk to you soon!!!

HELLOOOO!! =]

Hey all!

This is officially my first spring break and officially my first blog post! This semester has legit – no lie – FLOWN BY. It feels like I was just moving in yesterday. It blows my mind!

Let me start off by telling you a little about myself. I’m from a small town in Massachusetts called Dracut (right next to Lowell and about a half hour from Boston). I live with my mom, Cheryl, my stepdad, Mark, my older brother, Kyle, and my rottweiler, Nikki (a rotty I know, but she is the sweetest, most gentle rotty you will ever meet – the love of my life.) I also have a half-sister, Leddy, and a half-brother, Liam (their mother was really into Irish names =].) They live with their mother in Chelmsford, MA (on the other side of Lowell) and I really wish I could see them way more than I actually do.

I am still obsessed with the Backstreet Boys – they will always have my heart. I have been a diehard fan since they came out, and that will never change (I’m actually listening to them right now.) I also love love love Eminem and Nickelback. I went to a Nickelback in the summer of 2007 and it was the absolute best concert I’ve ever been to! I know it’s cliché but I’m also in love with Britney Spears – she’s amazing. I tried getting tickets to her Circus Tour, but they sold out in seconds (I was very disappointed ). Kanye West is also on my favorite list, as well as The Fray, Gym Class Heroes, Kate Voegele, Lil’ Wayne and so many more! I have such a wide range of music.

I tend to watch a lot of TV – a whole lot more than I should. I have a weakness for the reality shows on VH1 and MTV, even though I know they’re scripted. I watch a lot of movies too, and subsequently tend to quote them, all the time. I think the strangest thing is that I was obsessed with the movie Death Becomes Her – when I was like seven. For those of you who have never heard of it, it’s a strange movie with a very young Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn – a movie that a seven year old should not be obsessed with. IMDB it – you’ll think I’m crazy. I will admit, I was a strange child.

I want to tell you a little about my life at SNHU. My roommate Laura is also a 3Year and I love her to death. We met at orientation and immediately clicked. We live in Washington, get along with everyone on our floor, and have so many inside jokes it’s ridiculous. She loves movies more than I do and quotes them a thousand times more than I do. Next year, we’ll be living in Windsor on Eastside with four other girls. There will me and Laura, my best friends Ashley and her roommate Samantha (another 3Year), Becky (yet another 3Year), and Mikala (a culinary major who promises to bring back the goodies she makes =]). I CANNOT WAIT to move in next year – it is going to be so much fun! I know you’re thinking that I’m crazy for being excited to live with five other girls, but we are really close already. Laura and Becky will be in one room, me and Ashley will be in the other double, Samantha has her own single and Mikala does too. We have a lot of great people living on our floor also, so it will be such a fun time!

I don’t want to tell you everything on my first blog, so I’m gonna stop now. Until next time =]!
