Pretty Pretty Princess

Happy Saturday! I hope that everyone's weekend is going phenomenally! After a rough week of classes, I was hoping this weekend would give me a chance to relax but with a schedule like mine, of course not.(But I wouldn't have it any other way)

So last night, we through a missionary friend of mine a bridal shower. The theme was a princess party. Seeing a whole bunch of college girls in their prom dresses was definitely something to laugh about. The night started out great. There was actually a limo out front from the Lil Wayne concert that was on campus so we took pictures in front of it like it was our own. The rest of the night consisted of making crowns, dancing, food and a ton of laughter and memories. We had this contest of who could make the best bridal dress out of toilet paper. My group didn't win unfortunately but here's a picture.

After out night was slowly dying out, we went back to Margot's (she's the bride) apartment. When we got there, the boys who live in the first floor decided to play a prank on the ladies. And this was what we saw...

That's right! They filled up a ton of cups with water and put them all up the steps. Fortunately, most of us have small feet and we managed to get up with only knocking over a few. I have to admit, it was pretty hilarious. Going down was a trip! We'll get the guys back eventually! If you have any good ideas, please let me know! As you can tell we were having such a great time and time was flying by. Before I knew it, it was 3:30 in the morning and I had to be in work at 8 the next day! So, I decided, why even sleep? I took maybe a half hour nap and was ready to go. I got up at 6, walked to 711 and got a PowerBar and an Amp drink and was ready to embrace the day.

Today was Experience Temple Day for all of the admitted students. My stop was in the Student Center where I had to give the tour stop to all of the families. IT was really great interacting with so many of them and seeing some people from my High School as well. Needless to say, when I came home I was beat! I took a 4 hour nap and I'm feeling great. To top it all off, I have to do it all over again! Oh the life of a college student. I love it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Spring Break, I miss you so!

Hey guys and gals!

Can I just say that I am so glad that tomorrow is Friday! That deserves a Woo Hoo! This week has been never ending! And to top it all off, this is the third time this semester that I've gotten sick! All I want to do is lay in bed but I have so much work to do! I've got this huge accounting project due on Tuesday that I've been working on for a while now! It's quite challenging! I'm caught up on all my work for now so I'm happy.

I wish it were still Spring Break! Mine really wasen't much of a break however. I went up to Boston for the week with the Newman Center and did some community service in Lawrence, which is the poorest city in Massachusetts. I went with some of my best friends and it brought us a lot closer together. Most of our time was spent in soup kitchens making tons of food and organizing everything imaginable! We had to organize this one closest full of toys and found this fun pink bike that we rode all day. We decided to be creative and tie a jump rope to it and have somebody hold on to the rope from a scooter and get pulled around.

Here's Katie and Alexandra!

One day we had to make over 500 cookies. Good thing I love to bake. I think we got more flour on each other than actually on the cookies themselves.

Here's Chase rolling out a huge chunk of the dough we made.

The trip was so awesome and I miss it dearly. I met so many new people who each had a story of their own. Boston is a beautiful city and definitely enjoyed my first trip there. It was a little chilly though. Overall, it was a great experience. A lot of people don't really understand why I choose to do a missionary trip as opposed to the typical Spring Break in Mexico or something. I find missionary trips like this to be so much more rewarding and it's something I will always remember. Sadly, Spring Break is long gone. Here's one of my favorite pictures from the trip that I'll leave you with. We were standing in the Italian market and I saw this great view of Boston.

Have a great weekend!

Oh...I almost forgot the quote...

Up and blogging!

Aloha!

Welcome to my blog! Today is the first day that it is up and running so I figured what a great time for a post! Before I start to tell you about my day to day activity here at Temple University, let me give you a little introduction about myself.

First off, I am a Sophomore Tourism and Hospitality student with a Business minor. I'm from Northeast Philadelphia which isn't too far from main campus, maybe a half hour or so. (I'm still close enough that my Mom can do my laundry!) I love to get involved on campus. Currently, I am an Owl Ambassador which basically means I give tours of campus and work in the admissions office. If you came for a tour, I may have been your tour guide! It is such an awesome job and I have met so many great people; both prospective students and their families. I'm also the president of my residence hall, Temple Towers. I have the opportunity to plan out all of the activities that go on in my building that bring the residents closer together. It is a great experience to prepare me for what I want to do in life which is be a Wedding Planner or a Special Events Planner. I am also involved in the Newman Center on campus, which is basically the Catholic Church. Most of my time is spent there participating in all of the great activities that go on.

Of course, amidst all of the activities I'm involved in, I set aside time for my studies, and also free time for myself. I can't imagine myself being anywhere else but Temple University. It has been a great experience thus far and I look forward to sharing it with you in the upcoming weeks. I hope you all had a great Spring Break/Easter. I'll be sure to tell you about mine in the upcoming posts.

Oh by the way, I'm going to try and leave you with a quote at the end of each post. Here's one of my favorites,

"Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling."
- Margaret B. Runbeck

Until next time...
