Halloween, AASU, Thanksgiving, and more
So a lot has been happening since I last blogged.
I've been really busy. It's been research paper season. I like to think that the college semester is like a cycle: First few weeks you don't have too much, then the first round of tests come around. After that is mid-term season, after mid-term season is a second round of tests then research paper season. Right after the research papers are done and over with, the Finals come and sneak up on you and then the semester is over before you know it. I can't believe that I'm almost done with half of my sophomore year.
Well, I last updated right before Halloween. It was a fun night. The English department threw a Halloween party. It was great, a lot of the professors decided to dress up in costumes. There was pizza and "scary readings." Later on in the evening, a bunch of my friends and I went to Greenwich Village to see the Halloween Parade. I dressed up as Queen Gorgo from the movie 300. When we got to the Village, the place was packed! There were so many great costumes that we saw. I remember going to the Parade last year as a freshman, it was a lot colder this year. But I had fun and I definitely plan on going back next year.

It's also been a busy month for the Asian American Student Union.
On November 14, we hosted our first Filipino Cultural Workshop. It was basically just a workshop in which anybody could attend and learn about aspects of Filipino culture. We had the chance to learn about the history of some Filipino dishes as well as learn some games, cultural dances, and folk tales. We had a good turnout, but I hope that when we have another workshop that more people come.

The past few weeks we have been practicing for Kasayahan, the AASU and Sociology Club Open Mic. One of our freshman choreographed the whole dance. We danced to: So Sick by Ne-Yo, I Got It from my Mama by Will-I-Am, Bed by J. Holiday, Milkshake by Kelis, September by Earth, Wind, and Fire and Low by Flo Rida. Dance practice was intense and a lot of fun. I hadn't danced in a while and I was so sore after practicing.
So the Open Mic was held on November 20. We had a lot of great performers come from around the area: Jay Legaspi, Alfa, Juce, RUFMA, The Coopers, and others. It went really well and a lot of people came!

It's been a good semester so far for the Asian American Student Union, and it's only going to get better next semester.
On November 17 was St. Peter's Fall Open House. I was there along with my fellow PAVO members. It was so cold that day! Good thing we were all given lovely blue scarves to wear. So I got to meet some prospective students and show them around the school. I hope that it was an enjoyable experience for those of you who visited us.

We've been recruiting for new PAVO members for the past few weeks and I'm excited to add new members and awesome tour guides to our organization.
This month Argus Eyes, the SPC Theater group, performed a play: You Can't Take it With You. My roommate Veronica was in it as the Grand Duchess. I saw it with my friends and laughed the whole time. It was such a good play and it was performed so well! The set looked incredible too. Argus Eyes really did an awesome performance.
This past week was Thanksgiving. I was excited to go home. I can't believe Christmas is almost here and that the semester is going to be over in a few weeks!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!!!!
