Christmas Trees everywhere!
I've been so busy since Thanksgiving! I love the long weekend that we had last week and all, but for some reason it takes me a while to get back into working-school mode. Thankfully I finished both of my research papers that were due this week, so now I should probably start working on studying for finals. In Philosophy we're finishing up learning about Aristotle and in Women's History we're just about finished with Third Wave Feminism. In Literature we're currently reading Oedipus Rex . All of my courses are just about finishing up and I really don't want to think about finals that just yet....
On Monday the Asian American Student Union met, of course. Later on int he afternoon I helped interview some new members for the PAVO Society, the Student Ambassador Organization. We're almost done with the recruiting new members and I can't wait to work with them. In the evening I had chorus practice for the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony later on this week.
On Wednesday my friends and I went to the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. We left SPC around 3:30 and go there around 4:30. The actual concert didn't start until 7 in the evening and the tree wasn't actually lit until 9. It was freezing! I remember last year the weather was perfect, it wasn't chilly at all. But this year I was practically numb by the end of the concert. This year we also got free holiday hats, they definitely helped keep us warm.
This year was the 75th Anniversary since the first Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center. We got to see Nick Lachey and Ashley Tisdale-they were hosting the concert. Unfortunately we were a little too far away to actually see the performers. But it was fun anyway. The performers included: Natasha Bedingfield, Sean Kingston, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, Tony Bennett and Josh Groban (my favorite!). It was an awesome time. The performers sang Christmas songs and their own songs as well. After the concert we decided to eat at a diner nearby and warm up before going back to Jersey City.

Thursday was St. Peter's own Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. It was held in the chapel at 7 and the Voices of Praise performed along with the McMullen Chorale. The performance was great, we all performed really well. After the concert we processed to the Quad where the actual tree was. Student Senate actually bought a real life tree this year and it will be planted on East Campus after finals are done. So now we'll have a Christmas tree every year!

After the whole ceremony we all got to enjoy a nice reception sponsored by two of the alumni of St. Peter's College.
On Friday I had another busy day. In Romance Synthesis we learned how to sing another song in Spanish. We are also finishing up learning grammar in French, Italian, and Spanish. It's just the subjunctive tense that's left to learn.
Right after class I went to work at L'Oreal, then got back to SPC early to get ready for the Seton Hall University Semi-Formal. Their Filipino Club: F.L.A.S.H. (Filipino Leage at Seton Hall) was hosting a semi-formal at the Sheraton Hotel in Newark, NJ. I had so much fun. A handful of students from SPC went to represent AASU. The ballroom was beautiful, and the food was delicious. The theme was James Bond: 007. The dancing was fun, and I met some new friends and got to catch up with others. It's always fun to meet and hang out with other people who go to colleges around the area.

The lovely girls....
And then today I went to the city once again to see the Christmas tree. But this time it was absolutely freezing! But there were still so many people there. The city is so beautiful during Christmas time, but it's so crowded-especially around Rockefeller Center. But it was worth it seeing it again. So here's another picture:

My friend Chris and I-it was so cold!
So it's definitely been a busy, Christmas-filled week. I should definitely start my Christmas shopping and whatnot. Finals are less than two weeks away, and there's only a few classes left to the semester. It's hard to believe that it's already December and 2008 is creeping around the corner. So until next time...
