Best Friends!

WHOA! I have been going nonstop for the past four days and I finally have a minute to blog. . . . . What a week. On Thursday Maria and I woke up early and I gave her a campus tour. . . all ten minutes of it! We took the train to 33rd and slowly walked up to the Rockefeller center area. Of course we stopped along the way at Toys R Us, Macy’s, and any other place along Times Square. Maria was shopping for some big brown boots with a heel . . . but we could find anything she liked. We attended mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 12, then caught some lunch and Maria went skating at Rockefeller Center. I was the coat holder/picture taker of the event. . . . and I realized by watching everyone that there actually are people who skate worse than me. We took the train up to central park, walked around a bit, then spend a couple hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) admiring Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, and many other artists I learned about in my art class. We didn’t want to be on top of the Empire state building until it was dark, so we headed to Lemongrass on 13th street for some Thai food. It was really good, I got something new and loved it. . . as usual. Then we headed up to the 86th floor observatory and basked in the “fresh air before heading back to school.

Friday morning was very relaxing. Maria, Jamal, and I played tennis in the “bubble, which is the top floor of our Rec centerwhere there are a bunch of tennis courts. We played doublesJamal and I against Maria. Of course we lost every time, but I had fun running around pretending I know how to play tennis. Friday we checked out Ground Zero and took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was a little too touristy for me, but hanging out with my best friend made it fun. That evening we met up with Jamal and played a few games of Laser Tag at Laser Park in Times Square, then we headed to a comedy club for a show that night. I have never been to a comedy club before. . . if there even is one in Montana (lol). . . so it was a first for me. It was so funny. . .I am sitting here laughing just thinking about it.

Saturday I told Maria I was not waking up until noon. I was exhausted from all the walking. She was ready bright and early. . .and around 12 I fell out of bed, into some clothes, and headed to 9th street. We walked around the village. Maria couldn’t see in the window of one shop called “New York Fetish and she asked me what they sold there. I told her to use her imagination. Then the glare went off the windows and Maria witnessed what was inside. . . . it was so. . . .villagey! We walked to the famous Magnolia Bakery and waited in line for a cupcake. We both agreed the frosting is WAY too buttery. . . but everyone has to go there once. In the afternoon we headed back to Jersey and went rollerblading in Lincoln Park with Jamal. Maria and I had some good girl talk that night. . . .reflecting on all our good times together and how different things are now that high school is long past.

Sunday Jamal was a darling and brought Maria to the airport for me so I could sleep in a little. They left the school at 4:20 am (haha that stinks!) and got to the airport in plenty of time! Today I have done nothing but homework and blogging. I hope you will hear from me this week. . . I can’t promise anything as this is definitely my catch-up week. Wait. . . isn’t that what spring break is for?
