Business Symposium
Today I attended the 35th annual business symposium which was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the Jersey City waterfront. The Board of Regents, along with the support of Fidelity Investments and several other companies, sponsor the event. Many students were invited to attend the symposium and I was lucky enough to be one of them! This first picture is of Brian Bernardino and I on the balcony outside the conference room. What a view! The weather was absolutely georgeous and it doesn't seem like November at all.
Several speakers were featured at the event including Paul Tagliabue, former NFL commissioner. Mr. Tagliabue received an honorary degree from SPC in 2005 and his brother graduated from Saint Peter's College. The topic of this year's speeches was, "Managing Change: 21st Century Perspectives."
Other speakers included Thomas P. MacMahon '69 and president and CEO of LabCorp, Angie M. McGuire, Deputy Chief of NJ's Office of Economic Growth, and David Broder, Washington Post Political Columnist and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist. Mr. Broder spoke alot about the results of the recent mid-term elections and what the results mean for the future. All of the speakers were interesting, and I even sat by one of the speakers I had previously met at an accounting society meeting. What a coincidence!
Anyway. . . . I need to go study for my accounting test I have to take tomorrow since I missed class today. . . . My 17 yr old brother Kevin is coming to visit soon and I can't wait! Until next time. . . Adios!
