MiMi Le Duck
I can't believe another few weeks have already passed and I am just now posting a blog. I had quite an eventful couple weeks!
Last weekend I went to visit Jamal at his school in the north boondocks of New York. It was lots of fun but boy was is it ever windy! There were 60 mile an hour winds in Oswego, NY and trees. . . . and people were falling like flies. I wish I could tell you that was an exaggeration, but I had a great time meeting his friends and doing whatever they do in small college towns. It was SO DIFFERENT from Saint Peter's. . . the only thing I didn't like was the 5 hr bus ride!
Reality set in on Monday when I realized I had tons of homework to do and that I hadn't gotten much done over the eventful weekend. I am busy applying for summer internships now and making some contacts becuase I will be in Hong Kong when most of firms are interviewing during spring semester. It is quite a process doing the whole cover letter and resume thing, but of course my older sister is a great help. She is a recent grad from law school and she send me her resume and cover letter as an example. I called her back and told her it was so good I wanted to hire her! Well now I am finally done putting all my credentials down on paper and it is a relief.
On Friday, the drama society Argus Eyes put on an amazing performance of The Crucible which I attended and boy was it was worth going to! On Saturday I slept until the afternoon and then woke up and did my work study job as a desk attendant for four hours in the afternoon/evening. Today (Sunday) I did my normal babysitting job that I do in the mornings. . . . . killed some time walking around the village, then went to the New World Theatre with my friend/roomate Andrea Contreras for an afternoon matinee of MIMi Le Duck. It was a heartwarming and hilarious story about a middle-aged mormon woman from Idaho who goes through a mid-life crisis and ends up doing a show in paris dressed as a duck. Her husband catches her sleeping next to a cross-dressing oyster man who has a hand on her "good mormon breast" to see if that was what he truly wanted......on his own body! It was a riot, to say the least. I guess you had to be there.
The most ironic line of the whole play was, "My name is not Madame Vollet. I made that up when I came to Paris. My real name is Esther Buttricks from Missoula, Montana." -Eartha Kitt as Madame Vallet. Here is a picture of Andie and I in front of a poster for the show:

After the play we got some yummy Coldstone's ice cream even though it was freezing outside. . . .and then back to school for TONS of homework to do tonight. In fact, it's 1am and I have class in a couple hours so I better get going.
