Semester's End
After my final exam on Friday (last one) I didn't quite know what to do with myself after so much studying. Here is a picture of my group members and I after our final presentation in our China Marketing Class. We did a huge project on a Chinese company, WantWant, and its performance in the China Market. My groupmates, mostly local Hong Kong students, are holding up some of the most popular products sold by Want Want.

This Tuesday I went with some friends to Stanley on the south side of Hong Kong Island. It is a quaint little town with a nice bay, but it's extremely touristy. We checked out the extensive market and compared it with the Ladies' Market in Mong Kok where we often shop and found that, as poor students, we prefer Ladies' Market. So, after we enjoyed a delightful outdoor lunch together and sat on some rocks in the harbor and talked for awhile, we decided to go to Mongkok on our way home!
Since I knew I would be leaving tomorrow (Thursday) this was to be my last visit to the beloved Market. We had lots of fun bargaining and ended up carrying many things back to campus. Here is a picture of the crowded market. As you can see, it doesn't just have things for ladies to buy.

Today I picked up my visa for China, went to a final fitting for a suit I'm having tailor-made, and did some last-minute shopping. Then, this entire evening was spent packing. I'm trying to have all my stuff packed since I'll only be back in Hong Kong for less than 24 hours when I return from my trip. Oh, I forgot to mention, in about 5 hours (no, I haven't slept yet) I am going to nearby Shenzhen to to catch a flight to Beijing for 3 days, then Xi'an for 4 days. I'm going with Jamie again, and also Tom (New Zealand), Angela (England), and Mary (Ireland). If I do any traveling in the future, I will have friends all over the world! That is one thing I have really appreciated about my studying abroad experience, being able to meet people from so many different places.
Anyway, I'd best be getting at least an hour or two of sleep, and you'll hear from me after I get back from Beijing/ Xi'an.
