Andrea – Well, for this week being a short week due to President's day...
I did a whole lot. On Tuesday I went to my urban neighborhoods class. We discussed many things including papers that we had written. We shared our papers with the class and really got a feel for one another. I love how my class is so small that it is like we are becoming friends. After my class was over I headed over to the Yanitelli Center to go to work. I work in the Athletics office. Basically, I just help out anywhere I can, such as filling out paperwork, sending off mail, and counting tickets. You would think it is an easy job but you really have to pay attention to the numbers. It's not so easy as you try to put different number tickets in different piles. Your mind starts to play tricks on you and you second guess yourself, haha.
After I finished with some tasks that I had, my boss sent me across campus to the Development Office. I dropped off some stuff for them and since there was nothing else for me to do I went back, grabbed my stuff, and decided to go to the gym and work out. Good thing I did! They started fitness week and I signed up then and there, getting a free gift of course. I like it when they have different events in the Yanitelli Center because it gives me a reason to work out. So basically during fitness week they have like competitions where if you accumulate the most miles in the week you get a prize. I like it because it motivates me and even if I don't get the most I am still entered in a drawing to win a free ipod nano, so it's a win, win situation.
Once I was done in the gym (I totaled 3 miles that day... it's a good thing!), I went back to my apartment and took my computer apart ( I was replacing the fan on it, even though I am not a computer technician). I put in the fan and no luck, something else was wrong with it. So I had to send it off to somewhere in Tennessee so it could get fixed. Good thing there is a computer lab in like so many buildings on this campus, so I still have a computer to work on. I spent the rest of the day just doing my homework and I actually went to bed early.
Wednesday was a good day. I woke up super early, got dressed, and headed over to the computer lab. One of my cousin's, who is in the US Army, is over in Iraq at the moment and we make it a point to try and email or IM each other at least every day so that I know that he is safe. So I talked to him for a good hour before class and then I went to all my classes. I had a test in my Development class which was tough, but a fair test overall. I finished a little early and was done with classes for the rest of the day so I found another computer lab, emailed my cousin, and then went to mass since it was Ash Wednesday. The mass was good. I got my ashes like a good little catholic that I am then went to work.
I forgot to mention that I have about three jobs on campus: athletics, desk attendant for residence life, and a lab assistant for the biology department. I am a jack of all trades, you can say. So I went to my lab assistant job and helped out Dr. Giuliani with finishing a lab that we were supposed to have last week. Last week's lab was cancelled because of the severe weather. Once I finished with work and cleaned up, I headed to my apartment to make some food. As soon as my food was done my friend Matt called me and asked me if I wanted to go into the city and see some wizard rock. I really had nothing else to do for the night so I agreed. I met him and his girlfriend Veronica and we took the shuttle over to Journal Square and hopped on the PATH train to 14th St. From there, we took the F train out to what Matt called Alphabet City. The place we were going to was on Avenue A, a part of the city I had never been in. It was pretty exciting. We stopped at a pizza place and had some yummy pizza before the show. Once we were done, we got to Mo Pitkin's, the place where The Remus Lupin was playing at. Wizard rock was pretty interesting and I had a great time with some friends, so you can't beat that. The train ride home was pretty quick since we managed to catch the trains that we needed just in time. Overall, it was a great night.
Thursday was a completely busy day for me again. I once again went to the computer lab to IM my cousin, it's like a morning routine of mine now. I had classes all day and development lab. My friends and I had an ingenious idea while we were in lab. I had my digital camera with me and we took pictures of the cells that we need for our lab practical next week. The pictures came out amazing. All it took was my camera and a microscope. It was so interesting to see the cells just the way we would see them with our eyes. Once we finished our lab for the day, a couple of us headed over to my friend Tricia's apartment and watched a movie. We were laughing and having a good time but then it was time to go to our Pavo meeting, or in the case of some other friends, dinner. The Pavo meeting was so much fun. We had pizza and cake to celebrate birthdays. Also we discussed all the things that we had to do for the week. Once the meeting was over it was time for Matt and I to head over to Pope for a practice MCAT test that was being held by Kaplan. I thought it was one of the hardest tests I have ever taken. Good thing that they offered it on a night I could take it on. I signed up for the classes as soon as I got out of the practice test. It was good to see what to expect on the actual thing. As soon as I got back to my apartment I plopped down on the couch and relaxed for a while since I had such a long day. But once again I was up on my feet doing everything that I needed to do before the night ended.
I started my nightly routine of checking my email. Lo and behold my cousin was online and we started discussing many things, including the awesome pictures that I took today. I emailed him the pictures that I had and he thought they were so interesting. He could not believe that I just used my digital camera and the microscope to take them.
Well, I must take off. I have class in the morning and I need to be awake for that. Besides, my week isn't over yet!
