Tricia-Fun and Homework...you can do both
So when I get sick I really get sick. Last Friday (on the 13th) I went to the doctors and had laryngitis and post nasal drip. So I get my voice fully back around Wednesday but my ear was feeling weird. So after my mom threating to call my advisor and some friends from school I went to the doctors on Friday and ended up having fluid in my ear (almost an infection) and the nasal drip thing was what was causing my chest to hurt really badly. So now I am on even more medication!
Well aside from all that the last week was eventful. Tuesday Megan, Pris and I had a dressy day and a picnic in the quad. We also went to a meeting with the faculty and a candidate to be the new president of the college. I thought he seemed good and interested but I don’t think he understands too much about the urban area we are in.
Wednesday I decided to pretty much skip all of my classes and attend the Green Jobs Conference that was held here. Granted the conference didn’t start till 10 and my classes start at eight. It was a really great experience to see how large companies are starting to go green. By "go green" I mean they are trying to be healthier for the environment. This is something I am really passionate about and since I want to one day be a Marine Biologist, it means I basically want to save the ocean.
Even though I didn’t go to my morning classes I did go to my physics lab since it was the last class before finals. Wednesday night was fun too since it was student government transition dinner. This was for student senators and class officers, the old and the newly elected. Erica, Vinnie, and I are all senators for the class of 2008 and Jenny went to the dinner as well and got ratified for a position as a 2008 senator.
Thursday was my Developmental Biology Lab Practical (don’t let the name scare you). It was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be, though.
Friday was spent doing lots of homework and I actually started crossing things off my list! Saturday was Magis Conference, I really didn’t like the keynote speaker too much or the first lecture I signed up for either, but I really enjoyed Mike Lords talk about what it means to be a leader. Last night Megan, Pris, and I watched Rosemary’s Baby it had its scary moments and it was suspenseful during the end but it didn’t give me nightmares, so that’s good. I can understand that at the time it was made it would have been very scary --women today know a lot more than women in the 60’s did. If I were Rosemary I would have put my foot down or left the husband and moved back home!
Today was nice I got to watch my favorite baseball team the Phillies play! I am huge Phillies fan and have a subscription to MLB.TV just to I can watch their games while I am at school. Oh and they won today and Jamie Moyer almost pitched a no hitter. This week is going to be busy with testes and papers due, Peacock Palooza, and formal coming up.
