One Amazing Week!
This past week started off with usual excitement. Monday, I went to classes, did lunch with friends, caught up on homework, and curled up with a good book. Tuesday was a day worth mentioning! After work, I went into New York to see if "The Producers" had anymore student rush tickets left for that night's performance. By the grace of God, they did! That evening I was fortunate enough to see both original cast member Gary Beach back in his Tony winning role of Roger DeBris and Jai Rodriguez of Rent and Queer Eye fame as Carmen Ghia. The show was sensational! Of course, autographs followed the performance, as is the norm with me. Wednesday and Thursday were regular school days, classes followed by lunch and all that jazz. Friday, I went to work before embarking on a whirlwind New York City tour with Megan that made a stop at Grey's Papaya and Coldstone before halting at the Majestic for a tear inducing performance of Phantom of the Opera. That last scene always gets me! Saturday morning, the Admission Office sponsored a "Sneak Peek Saturday," which is a mini open house. That was fun, I always like interacting with prospective students. That evening, the fighting Peacocks took on Siena live on MSG. What a game! In front of a packed house, Saint Peter's sent the Saints sailing back to Albany with a sensational 81-63 victory. As usual, the Cockpit, which is the group of extreme students who offer encouragement to the teams, was out in force. We even painted ourselves for this special televised game. My mother was pleasantly amused to see me on national television painted blue! After the exciting victory, all I wanted to do was wash off the paint and get to bed. The next morning, I awoke with a mission. It has long been my intention to catch Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in "The Odd Couple," so immediately following breakfast, I set off on my mission. God was smiling on me on Sunday morning because I managed to get a standing room ticket, which meant standing the entire show, but for those 2, I fought through it! The show was hysterical, a must see. When the show ended, there was no choice, I had to get the Playbill autographed. After waiting by the stage door for a few minutes, I left with a huge smile, and 2 autographed Playbill's. One I gifted to our Director of Admission, because he is a Saint Peter's Prep graduate, and so is Nathan Lane! After hopping on the PATH back to NJ, I settled in the Whelan Hall lounge, where Residence Life and Student Activities were throwing a Super Bowl party. Way to go Steelers! What a weekend, and to think, a new one is just starting. I wonder what will come next?
