O What A Night!

I am having an excellent week. On Tuesday night, my friend Francesca and I went to the City to do some sight-seeing because of the beautiful weather. When we got to Times Square, we were met with security and photographers everywhere. I came to find out that it was opening night of “Lestat, Elton John’s new musical. I wrote about that show in a previous blog, it wasn’t worth seeing! Anyway, I saw Cindy Adams, the gossip columnist and Sir Elton John.

It was cool, I like 5 feet from real celebrities! That night we went and saw “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Tony winners Jonathon Pryce and Norbert Leo Butz. The show was down right hysterical. After the show, we got autographs.

Wednesday was a usual school day, I went to class, did some learning, and had dinner with some friends. Yesterday was a typical school day as well, but last night was Opening Night of “The Wedding Singer a new musical on Broadway. It was fun, I got to meet several famous people. Marissa Jaret Winokur, famous for creating the role of Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, was the nicest person.

Kathleen Marshall, who directed “The Pajama Game revival starring Harry Connick, Jr. was such a lovely person, very appreciative.

Howie Mandel was running late, so he wasn’t really in the mood to be interviewed, but I got my picture!

Since the show got out early, I had time to take pictures of other people currently on Broadway. Julia Roberts is doing a play, but I have heard it was awful, so I stayed away. I saw the crowd awaiting her outside the theater, and decided it wasn’t worth killing myself to try to stand there when she doesn’t sign autographs anyways. The theater right next to it, however, is where David Schwimmer is staring in a play with Tim Daly, so I got their pictures instead.

I was walking across the street when Julia came out, and was glad I wasn’t standing waiting for her autograph because it was an absolute zoo. Today, Francesca and I are probably going to roam around the City because the weather is so gorgeous and that just makes me want to sing! "Say you'll share with me, one love, one lifetime. Let me lead you from your solitude, say you'll need me with you, beside you. Anywhere you go, let me go too, that's all I ask of you!"

Earning Money and the Easter Bunny!

Over the past 2 weeks, a lot has been going on. I went home for Easter break, which was nice, because my family hasn't seen me since Christmas! I brought home with me the picture from the newspaper from when we went to Albany for the basketball finals. My mother was less than amused!

While I was home, I went to work for my aunt. It was fun, and I got paid which made it even better! I also had my evenings free, so I got to go out and see my friends. The best part of being home was being able to spend time with my nephews. They are getting so big so fast. I remember when the younger one was born.

Now he is crawling and starting to walk (with some assistance!)

On Easter morning, we had an egg hunt on the front lawn. My 2 little guys made out like kings and had a great time.

For Easter dinner, my family came to my house. That made me happy because it meant I didn't have to drive anywhere. I'm really out of practice with that. I did get to drive my Mom's new car while I was home. That was really cool even if it was only to the store and back. I also got some much needed rest while I was home. It is nice having my own little apartment in the basement, it makes me feel all grown up! On Monday afternoon, I came back to school. It was great to be back, but I am glad I got home to see everyone. While I was home, I did all my paperwork for summer employment.

This past week, I jumped back into my studies but had some fun too. The weather was simply beautiful all week, so I went out and took it all in. Wednesday, after the Senate meeting, I went out to dinner with the guys. It was a blast. Apparently Applebee's is a popular place for St. Peter's students to dine. It was so much fun to just chill out with the guys in a stress-free environment. Thursday, after class, I met up with my friends and went to see "Into The Woods" in the theater. The drama society did a wonderful job of putting the show together. It was sensational. On Friday, after work, I decided I was going to go see Disney's Tarzan, the newest show on Broadway. The fact that they sell the first row for $20 to students only sweetened the deal. The show was amazing, the special effects were jaw-dropping, and the flying was beyond belief. I can see myself seeing it again soon! This weekend I helped with the oratorical contest, which went really well. I didn't get to see who won though, I had to leave right after lunch to go to work. Yesterday, I just kind of loafed around and did homework because the weather was horrible. Today the weather was better, not 100% but better. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice, I am supposed to go to the city with some friends, since its one of my days off from class. To update everyone, Mom and I are going to Las Vegas next June, after I turn 21! I am really excited about going, I have never been and I hear it is beyond belief. I've been having a good few weeks, so this week's quote is upbeat, as usual:
"I'm standing strong and tall, I'm the bravest of them all, if on courage I must call, then I'll keep on trying and trying and trying!"

Some Crazy Weather and Crazy Friends Too!

Wow, I haven't written in a while. I'm real sorry about that, it's been a crazy few weeks around campus. Where to start? Well, last Friday was payday, so I took advantage of that, and the beautiful weather and went to the City. Saturday after work, I went and saw Lestat, the new Elton John musical. I'll save you all the agony, don't bother going to see it!
That evening, I was determined to go see Disney's Tarzan but the lottery wasn't on my side so I jogged up to Studio 54 to see The Threepenny Opera instead. I was happy with the decision to go see that. Cyndi Lauper and Ana Gasteyer were simply amazing, I got their autographs after the show. Cyndi Lauper even signed a special autograph for my sister Ashley, she is a big fan.

When I woke up on Sunday, I decided that I wanted to finish off my list of Broadway shows I hadn't seen which only consisted of Jersey Boys. I was glad I went because the show was excellent. Totally worth every penny of the $25 I paid.
This past week around campus was a very busy one and was also filled with some crazy weather. It was 60 degrees on Tuesday and snowed on Wednesday. On Wednesday, I went to the opera! I don't usually go to the opera because it is very expensive, but I handed out flyers for the City Opera earlier in the year, so I got free tickets and the show seemed very interesting. Since I have connections at the Opera, I got to go backstage after the show, that was super fun! After that, it was still early, and I was happening down 51st Street, when Jenna Leigh Green was exiting the Gershwin Theater, so I took a picture. For those "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch" fans, she played Libby!

Friday night, it was Campus Experience, when the incoming freshmen get to spend the night on campus and go on a boat cruise around New York. During the day, it was raining, but just as everyone was getting ready to board the buses to the boat, the sun came out. The cruise was spectacular, dinner, dancing, old friends, new friends, I couldn't ask for anything more. Saturday was Open House, and even though the weather was awful, it was our most successful open house to date.
That afternoon I went into NYC to see "The Color Purple" for my Live Performance Art class. I cried almost the whole show, it was that good. After a jog down Broadway, I hopped on the PATH back to school for dinner. After dinner, I jumped on the bus over to NJCU where I saw "Anything Goes." A cast member I really like invited me to see the show. The production was excellent. After the show, I patiently waited for the cast to come out just so I could plant a huge congratulatory kiss on that special someone. I did just that, and then we walked around the campus for a little while, holding hands. Eventually the bus came, and we got on it. When we got off in from of SPC, I extended the invitation to hang out in the dorm. After a while, it was getting really late, so we walked up to the corner of Montgomery and Bergen where we said goodbye before going our seperate ways.
Sunday morning I woke up to find a text from Megan. She was entertaining a Presidential Scholar from California and they went to Palm Sunday mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. They invited me to join them for a show that afternoon. I went in to hold their spot in line, and they got tickets for The Pajama Game. I strolled around the city during the show, and met them afterwards to get autographs. We got Harry Connick, Jr.'s autograph! His mean security wouldn't let us take pictures though. :-(

On the way home, we saw Andie, Erin, Tricia, and 2 of Tricia's friends from back home who had gone to the Mets game. You never know where your going to see a fellow Peacock!
I am getting ready to go home for Easter Break, I think my family really misses me. I miss them too! Summer work plans have been floating around my head lately, but I don't know what I'm going to do. Since I was most impacted by The Color Purple, that's where this quote comes from, and it really summarizes me! " I'm thankful for everyday that I'm given, both the easy and hard ones I'm living. But most of all, I'm thankful for loving who I really am. "
