Guess Who's Back!
Well, I'm back. The summer was quite a lot of fun. I did some traveling. St. Peter's paid for me to go to a conference in California. That was loads of fun, and I got to meet people from other Jesuit schools.
I also did some work. Since I don't live real close to NYC, I took a leave for the summer from working in the City. I went back to Stop and Shop for one more summer. It was fun getting to hang out with my old friends. I couldn't wait to get back to school though. I got to a point around the beginning of August where I totally missed all my friends.
Finally, the time came to move back in. Having been deprived of theater all summer, I jumped right back into it. I took an extra few days to get readjusted before going back to work in NYC, which gave me a chance to go see some new shows. On Saturday, in the monsoon, I really outdid my self and saw 2 shows. For the matinee I went and saw Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. It is billed as a one man show, but it really is a full musical. The show was so funny. His character, Jiminy Glick dragged Roseanne on stage. She just happened to be there. I, being a big fan, got a picture with him after the show.
In between shows, I swung by Starbucks and ran into one of the people I met at the conference. He had flown in for the US Open, which was rained out. We chatted for a while, which made the time go faster. Soon it was time to take my seat for the evening show, The Drowsy Chaperone. I really enjoyed that show. It was nostalgic of old musicals with new infusions all mixed in. After the show, I got a picture with recent Tony winner Beth Leavel. She is wonderful in her role as the Drowsy Chaperone. Totally deserving of her Tony, and she was very appreciative when I congratulated her on it.
Sunday was a rest day! I slept in, made breakfast around 11 while talking to Mom on the phone, then went and played ping-pong with Steve, Dwayne, and Nick. It turned into a rather comedic game, but a good time was had by all. Monday was a welcome day off. I took the day to catch up on some reading for class and catching up with classmates who I hadn't seen since last year. As always, Broadway quotes end my posts, and this one is no exception! "When destiny calls you, you must me strong, I may not be with you, but you've got to hold on."
