Cruisin' Back!

Well, life has gotten normal again. After an amazing summer of traveling, Broadway, and city living, I am now back on campus. This morning it finally sunk in, I'm a senior. I am entering my last year of college. Where did the time go. It is bittersweet. I am ready to take my place in society as a college graduate, but also these have been some of the best times of my life.
Let me bring you up to speed. Right after my last post, I got a call from the Usher's Union to sub-usher in at "Grease" and of course I went. Well, apparently I made a good impression because I have been working there ever since. I even got invited to the Opening Night party on August 19th. It was simply mind blowing. Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Emily, my boss back at the Hilton Theater inviting me back to work for Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, when it begins in October. I am excited about returning to my full time theater, but I will be sad to leave "Grease" because everyone there has really made me feel welcome. Here is a shot of me and some usher buddies from the Opening Night party.

Other than working nightly on Broadway and going to school during the day, life hasn't really been too eventful. Although, last Wednesday my Mom and sister came into New York to visit with me. Since I had a matinee at Grease, I didn't want them to have to wait around for me so I got them tickets to see Phantom of the Opera and I met them after to have dinner. While we were on our way down 8th Ave post show, we noticed an increased police presence. Very quickly the reason why became quite apparent as Barack Obama and his entourage drove down the block. Of course I waved and got a thumbs up response. It was cool, I don't get to see too many presidential candidates.

This past weekend, I took off from the theater and went home to see my family before moving back into on campus housing. Living in the city this summer was a blast, but it was nice to be home and see everyone even just for a few days. Mom was quite pleased that I was home, she needed things moved around her classroom. (Mom is a 4th grade teacher back home) I was also sought out to clean some gutters for my great aunts and my Grandma. It was quite an experience being on the roof in August! Well, that's really what's been going on in my life, classes are in full swing and I love them all. Once you are an upperclassmen, you take your major classes so it is extra interesting. This post's quote is dedicated to all my fellow seniors. Good Luck Class of 2008! "There's only us, there's only this, forget regret or life is yours to miss, no other road, no other way, no day but today"
