My Birthday weekend!
So...its been an intense few days. Well, intense, but good.
Thursday my mom flew in and took me, Jackie (my roommate), Chelsea (our 'other' roommate), Chris (our friend who lives right below us), Megan (the sophomore, also from California, who convinced me to come to St. Peter's), and Geoff (our Senior friend) to dinner. Our other friend Brett could'nt come because he was in Georgia for baseball.... But it was a lot of fun and my mom got to meet all my friends (AND we got good food! =))
Friday my mom and I got up and ran along the waterfront, then went into the City to walk around and try to get tickets to see "The Pajama Game". But considering it just opened this week, it got really good reviews, and Harry Connick Jr.'s in it....no such luck for tickets. So we just walked around the City which was really fun, and Chelsea called to tell me that she got the RA job....so then she ran down to the mail room to make them give her my letter and opened it for me, and told me that I got it too! So we were pretty excited about that one, since we really wanted it and we've been waiting to hear....The rest of the day we just walked around in the cold and went to this really yummy italian place, where we read later is one of Bill O'Reilly's favorite places....who knew? lol
So yesterday we got up to run again and then went shopping for stuff I need but am too broke to buy, so we hit up Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and Shop Rite, and my mom got the experience of riding through Jersey City on a public bus. We went back to drop the stuff off at my dorm and visit Jackie and Chelsea, then we went to Chili's for dinner, where I had my favorite, steak!!. After dinner I left and went back to school where I met Geoff and crew for the concert.....
The Starting Line Concert...
So we went into the City to the Nokia theatre (in Times Square, right below where they do TRL). We walk in and on one side is the band and a screaming, crowd-surfing, attempting-to-mosh-but-couldn't crowd.....behind them are rows of staduim seating...so we all go sit down, and listen to the first band for awhile (the girls went to get shirts, but i didnt becuase im saving...i was very proud of my wise money decision....lol)..the first band, suicide pact, they were ok...so much screaming though...so then the next band, cartel comes up, and we liked them a lot better, plus their lead singer was really cute, so we decided to go down into the crowd, just to see what it was like...we were SO close, it was crazy....after they ended and people began to leave the crowd, we scooted forward and realized that if we could keep standing up there til Starting Line came on, we'd be really close....by then it was like 7:45 (the show started at 6:30), and somebody said Starting Line would come on at like 9....we figuered we could hold out....well, after Gatsby played (they had a longer name, but I dont remember what it was)....and people were going crazy with the crowd surfing over our heads, then Copeland, who were good, but a little slow for the last band before the main band, FINALLY Starting Line came out....they were GREATTTTTTTTT......my legs ached and i thought i was gonna die from lack of water, but even for an impatient person like me.....they were worth the wait...it was SO good......me and my friend christie were going crazy rocking out, but it was SO fun..my first real concert experience...
After the concert we walked back and geoff goes, how intense was this night, on a scale of 1-10 (intense, obviously being good)...and i was like well a 9, and so he says well what could;ve made it better....um, if i crowd surfed or got a drumstick....
So then we took the PATH and i had to change trains to go back to my mom's hotel....but then train i was supposed to change to never came so i had to walk....its not that far, probably only a mile or so, but it was kindof cold and windy walking alone along the waterfront but still so pretty...side note, did you know that they light up the empire state building every night? usually its red, white, and blue, but sometimes other colors....well, it goes off EXACLTY at midnight...as i noticed while i was walking...and my best friend from home called to wich me a happy birthday...and jackie and chelsea called to sing to me...
Today i opened my gifts from my parents (4 books), then we went to Rockefellar Center so that she could see the ice skating rink...so pretty, but gosh its so cold.
Later that day a bunch of girls from my floor came in singing with cake for me. All in all it was a good birthday weekend. =)
