We hold in our hand the candle to light the world

So, anytime that I am asked to introduce myself, I wonder what exactly it is I’m supposed to say. I guess the normal, Hello, my name is Brandi is acceptable, but that can’t possible be the only thing people are interested in hearing. However, after you have spent your entire school career introducing yourself to the class, it becomes harder and harder to decide what new and exciting things you can tell people. I guess we also fail to realize that not everybody has heard your life story before, even though you’ve told it only a million times in your life. So, I have decided that the typical is okay, but I think I will add some new and improved facts about myself to make this story new to me!
My name is Brandi Jackson; I hail from the beautiful state of Oklahoma—Oklahoma City to be exact. To be honest, I am truly proud of the fact that I grew up in the place I did; Oklahoma was an amazing place to grow up. It was almost like a large small town in which I knew everyone. My Mom and Dad are the strongest people I know, and my little brother has to be one of the sweetest little brothers I have ever met. Many call my mom and me twins, and the older I get the more I see it. I have had the same basic core group of friends my entire life; my best friends have been by my side since I was a mere 7 years old. To this day, we can recall ever major event that has happened in each others lives because we have been there since the very
beginning.

Also with me since the beginning of my childhood was my love for sports. I played everything from basketball to soccer, from softball to kickball; however, in college, softball has become my main love...and my main sport. When I was little, I used to wonder what my coaches meant when they said you should “eat, sleep, and breath softball; but since beginning college I truly understand what that saying means. There’s a lot that goes on in college and to play a sport, you have to be truly dedicated and willing to miss out on certain aspects and pieces of the everyday college life. But to be honest, it is not as terrible as one would think because the memories I have made with the Trinity Tiger softball team will last forever.
Many may wonder why I left Oklahoma and headed for the grand ole state of Texas. To be honest, it was the San Antonio Spurs…I’m just kidding…the truth behind why I left Oklahoma is simply my love of meeting new people, experiencing new things, and seeing how far I can branch out from the norm. The things about me is that I love to experience new things, new people; I wanted to be on my own. So I left Oklahoma and decided to attend Trinity University. This, so far, has been one of the best things I could have ever done with my life. They say that college is the best years of your life, and so far that theory has held up to all that it holds. I guess all I can say is that I hope it continues that way.

That is my introduction, and I hope that I haven’t left out the most important questions that people usually have. There isn’t much to tell, but I think that will change as my freshman year continues. The best advice I was ever given was that life is an adventure and you should embrace every moment of it because those moments will never return. So, welcome to my adventure...welcome to my freshman year as a Trinity Tiger.
