plastic owls or hooing housemates

i have another blog on which i discussed a certain ailment of mine and i thought it relevant to discuss this issue here as well. and perhaps i can get your feedback on my proposed solutions. oh, and please feel free to offer up any other solutions that might be wandering around in your mind. let's brainstorm.

i wake up at 7:30 am almost every morning (sometimes 7:40 am, if i'm lucky). i voluntarily sign up for 8:30 am classes. so, to all those trinity students who like to sleep in...don't worry i'll fill up the early classes so you can get the afternoon classes and your much-needed beauty rest. you're welcome.

some of the more advanced of our species don't need any extra rest devoted to our appearances.

this earl morning waking malfunction of mine is probably due to one: my childhood growing up on a farm, and two: the annoying gaggle of noisy birds that arrives outside my window around 7 am.

i'm thinking about getting a giant plastic owl - like the one in my family's horse barn back home - and placing on the upstairs window sill outside. the birds think the owl is real (poor creatures) so they won't nest in your barn - or outside your bedroom window. lets hope they don't wise up to the plastic owl ruse anytime soon.

my housemate suggested we record ourselves saying "hoo hoo hooooo" and play that outside my window to scare the birds away. several problems here. one: we don't sound anything like owls, two: we don't have any recording equipment, three: we don't have the proper play back equipment, and four: it doesn't solve the initial problem of annoying sounds outside my window at 7 am. hummm do i want to hear actual birds squawking or the hooing of my housemates?

that is all.

WHAT DO I DO?!

the urgency of the title of this blog completely over exaggerates my current state of mind. i'm actually pretty chill right now, yet i hoped it would get your attention. attention attained, sweet success. anywho, my question to You is: do i take a full schedule of classes or not?

YOU#1: don’t do it madi!

ME: but why?

YOU#1: it’s your final semester
you’ll have less work
you only need eight hours
you have two off-campus jobby things
you might miss class because you want to audition or elope

ME: elope?

YOU#1: okay, so just audition.

ME: yeah. okay i see what you mean, You#1.

YOU#2: do it madi – you should do it!

ME: but why?

YOU#2: it’s your final semester

ME: You#1 already used that reason.

YOU#2: fine, but that doesn’t mean i can’t use it too.

ME: point taken.

YOU#2: you’ll never get another chance to take some of these classes again.
your off-campus jobby things have already worked around your class schedule.
you have to go to your required science class anyway, so missing lots of class for auditions and elopement is out of the question.

ME: elopement was always out of the question.

YOU#2: well right, but auditioning and over committing is out too. anything that you were planning on auditioning for will have to work around those required classes anyway.

ME: this is true. i do tend to over commit.

YOU#2: and you do want to graduate right?

ME: yes, that is the plan. the final question then is do i want to work hard in school this semester (take a full load)? or should i save the hard work for non-school related activities (take a part time load)?

YOU#2: you have your whole life to work hard on non-school related activities.

ME: good point.

YOU#2: it looks like we’ve got a deal then. should you start your astronomy problem set now or begin reading your narrative film textbook.

ME: well, right now, i’m writing this bl…

YOU#2: or maybe we can start on those playwriting books, interactive media work. what do you want to start with?

ME: you should sell used cars.

and that is almost all.

I am in a show right now called For Mal to Hide by Shelia Rinear (Trinity's playwriting professor) directed by Dr. Rinear (a drama professor) performed by Kyle Gillette (another drama professor), Dora Pena (a local filmmaker) and me. For Mal to Hide is a part of the SA PlayFest.

The SA PlayFest will consist of seven different ten-minute plays by local playwrights.
