Hi everyone! I'm really excited to be writing for the Admissions blog. I read lots of different blogs and always join, but I never post. Now I'm the one doing it! It's a pretty cool feeling. I suppose since you will be following my Trinity experiences, you ought to know a little bit more about this random college girl. My name is Mandy and I am a Junior from Houston, Texas. I'm an English Major with Spanish and Drama minors. I am the president (fall 2007) of the Jewish Student Association and a very proud member of Alpha Chi Lambda sorority. I also work with work/study at the Residential Life center. I'm pretty sure all of that information is listed elsewhere, so maybe I should tell you something more interesting.

I am passionate about the arts. My favorite place in the world is a stage with a performance going on. Not only do I love to be in the show, but I love being in the audience and witnessing the beautiful imperfections that is live theatre. I'm pretty sure that came off as amazingly pretentious, so don't worry. I'm also addicted to celebrity trivia and gossip. My friends will call me with some tidbit trying to stump me, and when they inevitably fail, they hang up in rage. It's really fun. I'd like to think that all of the useless trivia is social capital for my future.

I love reading. That comes with territory of an English major, but I truly love it. I actually like sports, even football, but that comes with doing marching band for four years in high school. After witnessing 40 football games, you have to learn to appreciate it. Coming from an insanely competitive and difficult high school, Trinity seemed pretty easy. For about a year. After that, the actual "college" part kicks in. No one is immune. If you are an over-joiner of clubs in high school, you are doomed here. But don't worry- that's you. And if that's what makes you happy, do it. I will be studying at King's College in London, England starting in January, so at least for the spring, you will be sharing the abroad experience with me as I leave the country for the first time.
