Hey Everyone! It's been a while since I've did an entry, eh? Sorrrry! I've been so busy with school and everything else but I'm on duty tonight so I figured that I haad to sit down and tell you all the happenings in my life. Where to start...hmmmm... Well, these past couple weeks have been very very very stressful. Classes are winding down and professors are getting last exams in before finals. Only 7 days of classes left and then a week of finals and this semester will be all done and I'll be half way done my undergrad! yaaay!
To add to the stress is my lovely RA position. With programs still to do and dealing with resident problems, I am ready to pull out my hair. It's so hard living with people and becoming friends and then not getting respect/the understanding that I still have to do my job as the RA. It's a tough position but I'm dealing with it as each day comes.
Living at college definitely puts space between students and their families. I haven't been home since Spring break and I'm living on campus this summer. It's hard not seeing my family that much and I think it can put a strain on relationships. Everyone's stress levels plus not talking/seeing each other everyday is a hard challenge to deal with. That is definitely adding to my unbelievable stress levels. hah!
Well, the weather has been warming up so daily walks on the beach are definitely helping me keep my sanity. Just two weeks left and I'll be able to regroup and stop being a crazy stressed college student!
I've probably seen a lot of you at the past couple UNE days (you may recognize me by the group of crazy kids sitting in the window writing messages on the window....?) haha
Okay, lots of work to do. Hope your school years are all winding down nicely!
The most amazing part about breaking up with someone is that there's always somebody else out there to find. And, as the title may suggest, I've started dating someone new (and better!). His name is Joshua and though technically we've "met" months ago we didn't start talking/hanging out 'til a couple weeks ago. He used to work at Coldstone as a job on the side, and since I'm ADDICTED to Coldstone and go there all the time I'd seen him many times before. One night my friends and I went to Coldstone and he was working. I got up some nerve and gave him my number. He texted me later that night and we've talked every day since. I left for Spring break right after we met, so we didn't get to hang out until I got back, but once I did return to UNE we started hanging out and still do all the time! He's so nice and sweet, and it's really great to have somebody to spend time with. I've met a lot of people since I met Joshua which is really great too because I love meeting new people! I've met a few of his friends from high school and some of the people that live in his apartment building, as well as his twin brother Deven. It was Janet's (one of the women in the apartment building) birthday this weekend, so it was fun celebrating and getting to know them more.
Me and Joshua are in the front and Deven, Kelly, and Janet are in the back.
Joshua even makes me breakfast!!
We always have a great time when we all hang out together and I always look forward to spending time with any or all of them (but obvi, with Joshua the most).
New relationships are always fun and exciting and I can't wait to see where this takes me. Summer's just around the bend and I'm staying down here at UNE this summer, it will be a really good time! Keep posted for more about my crazy life here at UNE!
So, I know that these past two years I've been blogging but haven't talked too much about relationship/ real world stuff. Believe it or not, I am a real person with real problems and drama and everything else that goes along with being a young adult at college.
Almost a month ago Jake and I broke up. (It was actually the 4th time that month that we did) That time was final though. It didn't end well, and the next day involved me yelling very loud for a long time at him for everything I felt I needed to say.
(I thought this video would be appropriate)
(actually, when I was writing the beginning of this entry this song started playing on my itunes and so I found this video on youtube to share with all of you! Crazy, eh?)
Anyway, He and I tried to work it all out and just be friends. We kept talking every day and we both really hoped that the other was doing well. The first week was okay, we didn't see each other (which was probably best) but we talked. That week was really hard for me because only after a few days of us breaking up, we was already talking to and hanging out with a couple other people. It hurt a lot because I felt like he could have waited at least a couple weeks, since we were together for a little over 6 months. I got over that whole thing, but then he started getting really cold and distant. I tried talking but that didn't work and we both kind of just gave up on the whole "being friends" thing. I guess people are right when they say it doesn't work.
Another thing that was hard about this whole situation was that I still had stuff at his house. I really just wanted to get it back so I could have all the loose ends tied up and I could really get moving on. For some reason he wanted to be a jerk (the nicest/most appropriate therm for me to use) and seemed to care less about me getting my stuff. So, I went to his house when he wasn't there and got his mom and sister to help me out. I really appreciated them helping me and it made me really sad because I really liked his family. Oh well.
So, after all of this drama, I've finally completely moved on and have started on with my life. I'm done with not being treated nicely and giving all the time and never getting anything back in return. Nobody should ever feel bad with the person they are with and unfortunately I found that out the hard way. Oh well, Such is Life!
Anyway, I hope that this can show you all that being in college isn't always a fun/amazing time. There are crappy parts and drama as well as lots of fun and hard work! At college, the environment and dynamics of every relationship (platonic or not) are constantly changing. It's always great to have close friends and your family to talk to or go to when you have problems like this or any other adversity you may encounter.
Just remember: there's always good that comes out of bad and something can always be learned from every situation!
The other day, I noticed that a lot of my residents seemed like their spirits were down so I thought I would cheer them up a bit. I went to Target and bought three dozen eggs, dye, candy, and plastics eggs. I came back, boiled the eggs, filled the plastic ones with the candy, hid all the plastic eggs in the lounge, and set the table up for dyeing eggs. I told everyone to stick around the floor because I had a surprise for them around 9:00. A little after 9, I went around and told everyone to come to the lounge. Everybody seemed pretty surprised and excited when they entered the lounge. It didn't take everyone very long to find all the eggs (even though there were over 90 of them. The lounge isn't really the best place for hiding eggs because there aren't many spots to hide them well! There were only 3 people missing from the floor, but we had two guests so there were 24 of us (my best turn out for a program yet!) All the boys even came, which is good because getting the boys to come to programs is haaard! Here are some pics:
Over spring break Emily, Ty, and Beth came all the way to Calais to visit me! We went to St. John, New Brunswick for the night. It was really fun. On our way over we got stopped by customs. The Canadian customs lady was really mean and she made us pull our car over and we got searched. We obviously didn't have anything we weren't supposed to, so we were all set. We got yelled at for taking pictures/video, but everything ended up being okay. We got a little lost finding our hotel, but once we found it we were all set. The outside of the hotel was really sketchy, but once we got in, it was really nice! We stayed at the Chipman Hill Suites right in the city! Here are some pics.

Once we got our stuff unpacked, we went out to find a restaurant. Because it was Monday night and we didn't get to St. John until after 10, not many places were open. We found a Mexican restaurant that was open until 2am. It was really nice and wicked good. A band even started playing after we were there for a while.

The next morning we went to King's Square to get some food. We weren't really sure what was there but once we got there we were very surprised. It was this huge mall that seemed to go on forever and ever. There was even a marketplace with tons of food. We ended up getting sandwiches at this place, they were really good.

Canada was really fun and I'm so glad that my friends came to visit me! I definitely would recommend taking a trip to St. John sometime. There's lots to do and we decided that it was a really nice, clean city.
Hey Everyone! Hope you all had a great Easter! Well, now that I've been back for a week from break, I thought I should update you all on all the new happenings. I have a few different things to talk about so I think this time I'm going to do them as separate entries. So, here they go!
