there are officially 8 days of UNE left. i am wicked excited to be going home..but i am going to miss my friends so much.. i have yet to pack anything [which is becoming a slight problem] considering the fact that i live in chicago & am taking a plane home. everything has to be shipped out prior to my leaving, so i really need to get a move on it. of the 5 classes that i am taking, i only have three finals [not counting the 2 papers for the other two classes] so im in the process of studying for those..i have one on monday, one on tuesday and one on wednesday.. on wednesday i will take the final & then my flight leaves at 6 pm. that means saying goodbye to my best friends & crying for hours; although ive been accomplishing that very well lately, haha.. not much more to say other than that freshman year has been amazing & it goes by a lot quicker than you would think. there have been fights with friends. late nite pizza binges. snow days. & tons more. i absolutely loved it. i wouldnt change one memory for anything.. in the next few days, i will be posting final thoughts, so questions would still be great! aysh <3

hey yall! so its almost time to end this school year. the weather has been absolutely amazing. ive been at the beach for the past 3 days! [i am going to be posting those pictures very soon] other than that, its coming down to the wire. turning in all of my assignments & getting ready to study for final exams! then its back to illinois for the summer! i cant wait for the beaches and sun that i have there & seeing my friends will be the best! but i will def miss my best friends here.. hmmm? what else? not too much more has been going on.. ive been "attempting" to pack up all of my things to send back home. but that has not been going over too well, haha. i have way too much stuff to even know where to begin. well i think thats it for now, but to all of you incoming freshman, now is the time to make friends for next year! i saw some students coming around for the UNE days. i remember that from last year! i loved it. this school is a really amazing place with all of the comforts of home [and yes, you get used to the food, haha] any questions..leave a comment! :) until next time.. aysh <3

hey ya'll! i know i havent written in a while, but things have been so busy around here! heres a play-by-play of what has been going on: -spring break was absolutely amazing. i was on a total of SIX planes [and let me tell you how tiring that was!] on friday night, i went to the airport and my flight was supposed to leave at 8. when i got there, they told me that i could fly into philly earlier [which would have been amazing!] but then the flight ended up getting pushed back to 8 anyways, haha. hmmm, then after that, i got into philly on time but the flight that was supposed to connect me to chicago was going to be leaving soon...so here's me sprinting down the terminals trying to find my gate, and when i got there, they told me there was going to be an hour delay! so after sitting there for a while, they finally called my zone & i got on the airplane..only to wait another hour on the runway. BUT i finally made it home [after a one hour drive from chicago to my house in the rain] at 3 in the morning... at six that morning, was my flight to texas with my mom...so after being home for about an hour [which was just enough time to switch some of my things from two bags to one bag], we were on a plane again! the three days that i was in texas were incredible. i got to see my old house and all of my friends there..i hadnt been there in 4 [almost 5] years, so that was really nice. 4 days later, i was back on a plane to chicago where i spent those 4 days at home..i got to drive my car [yay!], i got to see my dogs, i got to hang out with my second family..yeah, it was pretty awesome..& then on the 16th, i came back to une! it was really good to see all of my friends..spring break seemed to last forever! [although i loved every minute of it].. then a week later, i was gone again. this time for easter. i got to have easter in rhode island. it was amazing. i love being near the water & that is all it is there..i love the antiquity of it and how close everything is. i felt bad that i couldnt be with my family for easter [because we have certain traditions that we do], but i am glad that everything worked out because i definitely had a lot of fun! so since then, it has been lab reports, essays, reading articles, and nice weather..[up until this morning] i looked outside and saw SNOW! in april? wow! that totally threw me off guard. i was getting used to flip flops and t-shirts..today im back to tennis shoes and hoodies..ugh. i cant wait for summer and beaches again! well, that about wraps this session up, but i will be writing again soon..this week has been extremely busy, but next week things should be clearing up.. [i will be posting pictures from texas momentarily] :) aysh <3

oh my gosh! this year is going by so quickly! it is almost time for spring break! the snow doesnt agree, but the days are definitely getting nicer :) my first tests of this semester are coming up this week, so i am getting ready for all of those..bio is the first one..lets see how well that goes, lol. im not too worried about it though..i study pretty well. other than that, there has been a lot of things going on this past week on campus.. last friday i think it was, there was the campus lock-in..it was awesome! there were free t-shirts for the first 300 people that came in the door [me and my friends got one:)] & then we also got these really cool cups in the shape of a cowboy boot! i love it. there were also airbrush tattoos, so we definitely had to get those..and then the best part, there were airbrushed hats there. so i designed three of them..they came out really well..ummm, what else was there? oh, a mechanical bull [which i wouldnt try..haha..rode one in texas when i lived there..wont try it again lol] it was so much fun..[ps. ill have those pictures up right after this blog] well i am going to go finish some homework & enjoy this weekend! any questions just leave a comment :) aysh

hey ya'll! 2nd semester is finally here! classes started yesterday [& of all days, wednesdays are my worst, haha]..but this is what my schedule looks like this time around: Precalculus [M W F] 10:00-10:50 am Chemistry [M W F] 11:00-11:50 am Chemistry Lab [T] 3:00-5:50 pm Environmental Issues [M W F] 12:00-12:50 pm Biology [M W F] 1:00-1:50 pm Biology Lab [W] 2:00-4:50 pm Society in Latin America [T R] 11:00-12:20 pm so there is a lot to do, but i'm really excited to get started on it..the professors just handed out the course syllabi, so im looking over those for tests or major projects that i can start thinking about now.. other than that, not too much has been going on..i'm planning my spring break out already [gosh, thats almost here already!] i am flying down to texas [because i used to live there] so that i can go visit my friends..so i am wicked pumped about that! any questions or anything, just leave a comment & i would be happy to answer it for you! until next time [which means pictures are on their way], aysh :)

hey yall! just wanted to wish everyone a happy new years! finally done with 07 & moving into 08! this has been an amazing year [starting college & all], but i am so ready to see what 08 has in store! hopefully this year i will stick to my new years resolution [which i am still trying to figure out!] haha. i also hope to get that 4.0 gpa. i still havent figured out what my gpa is for this semester...my stats class is still being processed, so when all of that comes out, i will let yall know! have a fun & safe holiday! aysh =]]

hey all! sorry that i havent written back in some time! i have been so busy with finals and coming back home to chicago, so this blog will be updating everyone on things that have been going on :) finals were not so bad. i was taking english comp, chem 1, womens studies, abnormal psychology and stats. i didnt have a womens studies final, so that helped a lot, but the other ones werent that bad either. i am really glad that this semester is over though..im ready for semester two! :) next semester i am going to take chem 2, bio 2, society in latin america (which i am really excited about), precalc and environmental issues. the way that the classes are set up now, it should be a lot of fun. i have a lot of pictures that are going up on the next blog..it will be labeled all on its own (so make sure you check that out too) hmm..what else? christmas break has been going very well. i am so glad to be home and i love being with all of my old friends. i am going to chicago tomorrow with my best friend and my sister, so i will be taking a lot of pictures for that too! were going to be going to navy pier (their winter wonderfest) and its supposed to snow tomorrow! amazing! i love the snow! :) two more weeks at home, and then flying back to the school..im excited for that too! and then its time to plan for spring break! yay! well, ill be posting the pictures tonite, so be sure to check those out! and im always open to questions! happy holidays! :) aysh

hey everyone! hopefully everyone's breaks went well. my plane ride home was a lot of fun [i love planes], but the one back up here could have went a little better, haha. other than that, my break was amazing, but i am glad to be back at the school. it was really nice to see my family & friends, but there is just something about this place.. classes started again, & although it was kind of hard to get back into, after being gone for a week, i liked it..[yeah, im one of those people that love school] =]] but thats okay, because whats not to love about college? its finally starting to get cold around here, and registration has passed [which i still have not had the chance to do], but doing it for the fall semester was soooo easy! i cant wait to see what classes i am going to have! i know that i need to take environmental issues, bio 2, bio lab, and im not really sure what else yet..ill figure that out in the next few days..oh, and i still might be switching my major! i love psychology, but im not sure what i want to do with it [i tend to switch my mind a lot, so we will continue to see what happens there, lol] hmmm..what else? im thinking about becoming an orientation leader for the incoming freshman next year, so any of you who are thinking about coming to this university [which is amazing] would get to meet me! & i would definitely be looking forward to meeting all of yall =]] well i think thats it..three more weeks until Christmas break & i cant wait! i love this time of year! me & my roomates are going to be getting a tree & everything..[awesome!]..and since the last time i wrote, we have added a fish named zeus to our room =]] hes pretty adorable i must say, haha. thats all for now & i will write again soon! feel free to leave me a comment! =]] aysh

Ok, so this is my first blog ever! & I am really excited to do it! Here are a few things about myself, so that all of ya'll can get to know me a little better: My name is Aysha Gerald I am a freshman this year (and loving it) I am from a town called Zion in the state of Illinois (it's near Chicago) I am majoring in Psychology as of right now, but I may be switching into Medical Biology next semester (we will see how that goes) Other than that, I have been on campus for a little over 2 months now & things have been amazing. The school is beautiful & the people are amazing. I went to the orientation in September because of travel arrangements & I met a lot of really great people. When I moved in, I was a little nervous at first (to meet my roomates and everything), but the situation turned out great & I couldn't have asked for better roomies! There are also a lot of things to do around campus..my next blog will pretty much be pictures of everything that I have done here since September (which may mean that there will be quite a few, haha). Activities are ALWAYS going on, so the feeling of missing home has kind of gone away because UNE is definitely my home away from home. Hmmm..what else to say? Other than I am having the time of my life right now. I will be going home this coming Saturday for Thanksgiving break, so I am really excited to see my family! I can't wait to do that! Also, in this short time, I have made the BEST friends (more to see of them in the next blog as well). It was easier making friends than I thought because everyone is so open and inviting here..
